first appointment

i had my first midwife appointment today which was good as the midwife was so nice she told me a lot of information i didnt like the blood tests thugh as when she had finished a lot of blood poured out and i had to have another laster on it sorry for going on has anyone else had ther first appointment if so how did you get on

Hi Rach,

Glad you have a nice MW too, I had my appointment a few weeks ago, my MW is lovely too, it was the first time I have had blood taken and I can't say it was an enjoyable experience either - she was very good but couldn't find a vein - damned arms.

She then booked me in for my first scan, which I had last week, and gave me all my notes and the leaflets & Emma's diary and all the bumpf which my OH has read back to back and uses as his bible to make sure I am a well behaved pg gf!

My midwife seemed really nervous about taking blood, her hands were shaking! I felt like I shuold be reassuring her it was going to be okay!

Emmylou - your OH sounds like mine, he keeps asking whether he can come to appointments with me, he's even started reading pregnancy & birth magazine! Bless him, he's so excited.

I had my first midwife appointment today,she was really lovely and reassuring. Had to get a needle in both arms as she couldnt draw blood from my right arm (although when she pulled the needle out it started gushing! ) so she stuck it in my left arm and i fainted . My OH was so scared because he didnt know what to do, but i soon came around and everything else was ok! That will teach me to eat 10minutes before my appointment!

I have my first appointment on thursday...and I am terrified of blood tests!!!

do you have the first blood test at your 8 week apointment or is it at 12 weeks??
