After the disaster with the breakfast rice thing I have started Tilly with little finger foods every now and again at dinner time.
She has had boiled carrots/sweet potato /parsnips/swede in little baton shapes so she can pick them up herself.
Now, I am keen to do it this way to aid her grasping/reaching and movement of her right arm which was damaged at birth.
BUT.
She keeps gagging/choking and coughing and spluttering on everything she attempts to swallow. It's testing my nerve tbh. It frightens the life out of me.
I know true choking she wouldn't be coughing etc but is there anything I should do to avoid it? Without puréeing etc as I want her to use her hands and practice gripping things
Is this par for the course when giving food in this manner?
Is she too young maybe? The HV advised that I give her soft things to chew on and as she is entering the 24th week I didn't think it was a significant problem.
Any advice?
