Has anyone read AND seen The Lovely Bones? I usually hate film adaptations of books (memoirs of a geisha the only exception to date) and I absolutely love the book of The Lovely Bones. I really don't know whether to bother seeing it because if it's a terrible adaptation (like Captain Correli's Mandolin ) I will be so peed off! So can anyone let me know what they think? I haven't seen Dreamworld of a shopaholic for exact same reason. I just hate it when it's a crap adaptation!!!

I haven't actually read the book but I have heard that some fans of the book aren't happy with the adaptation, apparently it's a bit to 'Hollywood' and some of the darker bits haven't been included. Like I said though, I haven't read the book so I'm just passing on what I've heard!

The only film adaptation I've liked is Fight Club - again there are bits missing and the film makes it a bit too easy to follow, witha distinct start, middle and end but it's a great film nonetheless. Also Watchmen, I'm a massive fan of the graphic novel, god knows how many times I've read it now, but I enjoyed the film immensely - didn't think I would as it's such a great GN and it's been attempted so many times to put it onto film but then cancelled because the film wasn't doing it justice. The guy who wrote the GN, Alan Moore, lives just a few doors up the road from me and he HATES the film, he never wanted it to be made into a film in the first place though, but I still always feel kinda bad for liking it ooops!

That's so cool having him live so close! I know a few peeps who really disliked Watchmen but I haven't seen it. From the trailers on tv I kinda gathered it would be v different from book! I don't mind film makers adapting but please please please stick to certain plot points! It annoys me when they miss out really important parts!

I loved the book but wont bother watching the film as a few people have said it was disappointing xx

Think am with you there! Have you read Alice Sebold's other book?

The film isn't anywhere near as good as the book but thats to be expected most adaptions are rubbish which is a shame really

It is a massive shame really! You'd think that film adaptations would at least attempt to do the book justice!

Everyone who I know who has seen it, has been disappointed. Thankfully I haven't read the book yet so will watch the film first!

Decision made am not gonna bother! Love the book too much!

Aw no way! Sorry you didn't enjoy!
