Hi Ladies,

I'm 9 weeks as of tomorrow. The last week I've really been struggling with nausea, I've been sick at least once a day however the nausea is pretty much all day. I've been to the doctors, she's given me some antisickness tablets but I don't think they help 😫 I had to take 3 days off work but used my holidays, I'm already panicking about Monday as I don't think I'll feel up to going into work.

I feel I should be really excited but at the minute I just feel so down and fed up, I hope I'm not the only one feeling like this.

Can anyone please advise on anything that may help? I've even been to boots to buy some sickness bands which are not attractive in the slightest.

Any advise is greatly appreciated x

Aw sorry you are having such a tough time, I was vomiting up to 10 times a day with constant nausea in between from weeks 7 to 13 so I know exactly how you feel! I also couldn’t really eat anything, went off virtually all food, which is the worst thing as you need to keep eating little and a lot

I can’t comment on which medication works as I didn’t get any meds, I did try the sickness bands and I actually think they worked although they take some time to kick in, the only problem I found with them were for me they felt so so tight around my wrists, it felt like they were cutting off my blood supply so I had to take them off and didn’t end up using them again, but they are worth a try, you might not find them as uncomfortable as I did and they might work for you

I found having something sugary (not ideal I know) helped a bit, either a sip of cold coke or a little sweet like a whethers original, and eating bland carbs like crackers and toast a little bit at a time but frequently helped a bit

I’m 15 weeks now and although I still throw up of a morning and still off quite a bit of food it’s nowwhere near as bad as it was, but I did end up going off sick with it quite a bit and spent quite a few days in bed on the verge of tears! How come you have been taking holidays instead of sick leave if you don’t mind me asking, is it because you don’t get paid sick pay? If you do get sick pay just stay off when you need to and don’t feel guilty about it either, your employer can’t hold pregnancy related sickness against you in any way

If you are really at the end of your tether you could go back the docs and ask to try something different, I think there are different meds to try, but other then that I’m afraid it’s just an awful waiting game :-( hope you feel better soon, it does get better xx

Sophie, don’t worry you are 100% not alone, I’m almost 11 weeks and il be honest, Iv found the nausea and sickness has got worse, this last week has been horrendous for me. Personally I find going to work helps, because although I feel nauseous my mind is preoccupied, in the evenings when I’m at home I find becaue im thinking about it/feeling sorry for myself, it’s worse.

All I have been able to stomach over the last week is toast and snacking on grapes throughout the day..... not great nutrients for the baby!!

I think small but often is key- crackers, fruit, nuts, anything small and bland throughout the day, and keep sipping on water, to make sure you don’t get dehydrated!

I’m convinced I’m having a girl because nausea is meant to be worse with a girl! Lol
It will hopefully all be worth it in the end, stay strong xxxx

Wow 10 times a day is a lot!! I'm glad I only seem to be committing once a day. That's the thing that worries me, I've hardly been eating so I'm worried baby isn't getting all the nutrients it needs. I am taking pregnancy vitamins so hoping that helps.

I've been wearing the band's for a few days now and I'm just about getting used to them. I think they may be helping a litre bit.

I decided to take them as holidays because I've only told my manager that I'm pregnant, if I took sickness days I have to explain to my HR manager why I was sick. However if I'm not feeling up to work on Monday I'll have no choice but to phone in sick.

Thank you, hope you have a healthy pregnancy xx

Hi Beetle123,

I'm so glad I'm not the only one feeling like this. I found that when I was at work, I couldn't concentrate on anything and was constantly running to the toilet thinking I was going to be sick. It's so difficult as I've only told one person at work so trying to keep it a secret is difficult when I'm constantly running to the bathroom.

Funny enough my partner has just gone to the shops to buy me some crackers and bread to see if I can stomach that.

I've read a few various things on sickness, I'm convinced I'm having a boy but time will tell.

Good luck with everything xx

I really get it. I had hg with my first bad morning sickness with me 2nd and this one is constant nausea and vomiting I brought up blood yesterday it’s so exhausting I’m 12 weeks and the last week has been the worst so far you have my sympathy girls it’s truly horrible xx

I had horrific nausea and sickness from 8 weeks, it got so bad I was throwing up/painfully dry heaving every 5 minutes for hours through the night and at least every few hours through the day. It peaked around 10/11 weeks and gradually eased off from 14 weeks although I was still travel sick throughout.
The best things for me were peppermint (have a mint or 2 as soon as the nausea starts) and eat little amounts as often as you can (ideally carbs as I couldnt stomach anything else).
It was a miserable struggle and it made me almost regret getting pregnant as it felt like it would never end and I wouldn't feel normal again. But just hang in there, it will pass eventually!!
Remember it's sooo worth it in the end :)

Hi - lots of us feel the same way in tri 1, don't worry. I had horrible nausea/frequent vomiting from weeks 5 - 16. I couldn't cook or eat and was in bed whenever I wasn't at work. It was absolutely horrible and I really don't think I'll have another baby just because of how sick I was and how long it lasted. Anti-sickness tablets did nothing for me either (tried Maxolon and Zofran). I had to use all of my sick and holiday leave too. I also had to take time off unpaid. :/

Sorry to say that nothing helped me. Eating plain toast/popcorn helped when it wasn't at its worst but when it peaked in weeks 10-14, nothing helped. I spent a lot of time crying because of how miserable I was.

I read this post yesterday & thought poor women, can’t imsgine how hard it is being sick day & night. I never had any sickness with my first 2 & never vomit unless it’s alcohol related lol so thought I’d go lucky this time too... only to wake up at 1.30 last night feeling horrendous & throwing up 5 minutes later ! I was sick twice & was that hot I was sweating !! I’m not even 4 weeks yet so I don’t think I’m going to be as lucky as I first thought :( it’s really not pleasant is it!
