Just wondered what age most of you breast fed until? In pregnancy I didn't think I wanted to bf then when I had Finn it just seemed the natural thing to do... I planned on feeding until he was 6 months but have just continued as I love our quiet time together! Since weaning my milk has slowly started drying up, one side completely but have still been doing early morning feeds in my bed (I love bringing him in for a cuddle and feed early morning). I feel like my milk has virtually stopped and to make matters worse my period has started this morning and is soooo painful. I guess I'm just feeling really sad this morning, like it's the end of an era, my little man is growing up so fast and feel like the decision to stop has been taken from me :( (hope that makes sense?!) Just wondered how everyone else felt??

Hi Bex, sorry you are down today

Your period might have something to do with your low milk supply today. If you don't want to give up BF yet I am sure you don't have to. I just posted in feeding and nutrition a method for getting your supply up called power pumping, I read about it on another forum.

I am planning on BF for a year, I don't really have a choice as Leorah can't tolerate dairy or soy and the best way to control this is to eliminate them from my diet and BF so i have the same worries about my supply drying up before I am ready to give up.

Our LO's are growing up fast but Finn will just give you more and more pleasure as you see him grow up into an independant little man.

I also think my period is coming and am feeling very hormonal and down so i know how you feel today. Sending you some virtual hugs

That's helped Skatty, Thanks. Bloody hormones! :x

I guess on the up side of stopping feeding I can eat and drink what I want, use any medication and you never know my sex drive may even come back?!?!?!!!

Aww I know how you feel, I felt a bit like this with Brody.
You've done so well to get this far, and it's lovely that it's "run it's course" and you haven't had to intervene to wean him off.

I was sad about Brody, then one of the last times I fed him, he bit be really hard on the nipple and my sadness turned into relief! He has so many teeth now and can be a right little nipper so I'm glad

That's def made me feel better urchin! Finlay still hasn't got any teeth yet and I was dreading them coming through when feeding him so I guess thats another positive to add to the list! :)
