Other than SPD pains, I had been feeling fine all weekend until last night then all of a sudden my belly kept going really tight to the point where I had to get off the chair and stand up. Once I stood up it eased off a bit but my lower back was aching too. It scared me a little bit but only happened a few times BUT I also had diarrhea too which made me think OH NO!! because I know that can happen before labour.

I know little Flump would be fine if he/she were to come now a 3 weeks but I'm not ready! Our nursery furniture comes today between 5-8pm and once everything in there is sorted... I'll be happy and more relaxed.

I wonder though if I have a big of a bug or just starting to get nervous about things and the Braxton Hicks are more intense now.

I'm still confused about BH's though. The ones I am having are kind of around and above my belly button, but I never know if it's the baby moving and making my belly hard or a BH. How do you tell the difference?

sometimes it can be confusing about BHS or baby moving i find u can tell the difference if all ur belly goes hard then its a bh if its like a lumpy hard bit then its most likley a bum :D

i keep thinking im having pre labour signs too lool its not good i get excited then i get disapointed but eitherway we havent got long now :D

It sounds like the BH's that I get too. I get some really intense painful ones sometimes and I literally wince :? I've had a few contractions too over the past few days and those seem to be slightly different in that they radiate much more intensly all around my bump rather than at the front (if that makes sense). My tummy has been dicky on and off throughout the last trimester too. I wouldn't stress yourself too much as even if it is pre-labour pains then they can go on for days and weeks. I started with pains at 36 wks an am going to 40 on sunday

Thanks girls. I just feel quite low today and was a bit tearful this morning too. I'm sure that I'll be okay later on!

I am really confused..I haven't had ANY Braxton Hicks during my pregnancy, just a few period type pains..to the actual ones feel different to BH???

Help

yep thats a bh, I get them all the time too, all sorts triggers them off now.

Your baby moving will cause BH too ..your BH will get more regular and stronger from now up till birth I expect ..take care take it easy x

From 3 weeks before they came regular and stronger seriously I kept thinking it was the start but you know when your truely in labour even early labour coz you probably wont need to question it :D

Thanks Mid.

I also have this kind of odd pain running down by belly today but it feels very similar to the ind of nerve/ligament pain I had in Tri's 1 and 2. Anyone else had or have that around this time too?

Can't offer any advice as not really had them yet but wanted to send a few of these

I hope you are ok, it is a bit disconcerting if you are not sure what is happening to you. It does sound like BH, but I usually get my tightenings around the bottom of my uterus.
Hope you feel better soon

It' all getting scary now! I told Matt that I think I am going to be an absolute nightmare when I do go into labour, simply because....

1. Fear of the unknown
2. Being so out of control

 Ive only just started BH this pregnancy, they are not painful tho, yes they may make you squint and go oww but you would deffo know if it was contractions.

Take it easy

DebbieM try to stay calm

Being in labour I'm sure could be, and will be an experience you cannot prepare yourself for fully as you have never done it before. As for being out of controll, that's what MattM is there for! He is there to be in control when you can't be! I am the world's biggest control freak and I have already briefed my OH with exactly what I want and don't want during labour and he probably only knows half the stuff Matt knows! To some degree I think we all need to accept that there will be some loss of control but we have to trust the medical staff around us to do what is best for us and our babies.

I just hope that Matt won't be out of control too LOL! Can you imagine that! Both of us like warbling idiots, unable to listen to anything that we are being told! :rotfl: Oh God! Now I'm panicking! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I knew this would happen with me. I am terrified of giving birth and I'm not scared to admit it. I've never done it before, (just as most people here haven't) and I'm not saying for a single second that I'm the only one who is/has been scared, I know I'm not, but quite often people seem to skate around the issue of being petrified. I'm being honest LOL!

I'm looking to buy some Bach's Rescue Remedy in the hope that it will calm me down if I get too crazy! Either that or I might shove a bottle of vodka in my bag. Who would ever know!  (Joke.. I'm tee-total even when not pregnant)

I will do my best to stay calm. I think that right now I am worried it will happen early and I'm not prepared. I still have ironing to do and the nursery furniture is coming tonight (anytime between 5pm and 8pm!) :cheer: so perhaps once that is in and I can see it's all ready, I will feel calmer :D

We can only hope...

I'm glad you started this thread Debbie, I asked about BH's a few weeks ago and only two people replied :(

I think what i've thought was the baby moving (for months) have been BH's now  Makes sense because they are getting stronger!

Oh and your not alone on being scared of giving birth! I'm the same but i'm that sick now I just want to get on with it and have my baby here :D

Good luck with everything, i'm sure you will be fine

Oh hun, try not to worry about the labour. Just over the past week I have kind of accepted that I know it will hurt, but I will finally meet my baby. You will be fine and have lots of these

And the same and more of these to anyone else who is feeling the same... cos like I said. I KNOW I'm far from alone! :D

We'll be fine! Once labour starts, it'll be easy to know what to do; drive to the mat unit!
