Hello,

I have had my baby Antonio 4 weeks early (not yet written birth story) however I was wondering how often everyone is breast feeding their babies? Ive been advised by midwifes in hospital to breastfeed every 3 hours and not to leave it any longer however I seem to be feeding every 1.30hrs at the moment, he loves his milk :rotfl:

When did you start giving feeds with longer gaps between feeds and at what age?

Also......baby Antonio doesnt seem to like his mosses basket much and for some reason is only ever happy and content when he is in bed with me to go to sleep  this obiously scares me as you can emagin and im soooo sleep deprived as im to scared to fall asleep with him in bed with me in case anything happens. Any suggestions? how does your babies sleep and where?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Congrats!! :cheer: :cheer:

Welllllllllllllllll firstly when your baby is so young then they will dictate when they want to be fed not by when the midwife tell you, if I had listened to the midwifes id be walking round like a zombie. So yes 1.30 hours sounds about right to me. I am still co-sleeping with Ruby at 15 weeks as she also wouldnt go near moses or a cot. If you lie side by side both facing each other with one of your arms over the top of her head then you can feed her as and when during the night without much effort. You should try and sleep honey or you will be too exhausted to do anything and you will sleep so light anyway that the slightest flinch from your baby will wake you.

Hope this helps

i was very lucky that leland went straight to 3 hours and he dictated this himself , and now will go 4 already sometimes too .

lil miss will feed almost every 1.30 hours now... sounds normal to me an its a way for them to build up your milk supply so that when their tummies are big enough the can go longer between feeds

lil miss goes to bed in her cot in our room now, when she wakes for a feed I bring her in to bed with me and she munches on a boob all night...but the first week or so she just slept in my bed. not only am I aware of her movements but DH and the duvet too. Everytime Ive nearly drifted off into a deep sleep something jars me awake

Thanks for your replies ladies, Antonio is still feeding every 1.30hrs and im really happy with that, it seems to me that midwifes just expect you to do things their way however thats not always possible especially if you have a hungry baby that loves his milk :D

maria1976 - I had Antonio in bed with me last night and slept with him just as you had suggested, IT WORKED :cheer: :cheer:  I managed to get about 4 hours sleep in total and Antonio slept really well too. Thank-you!

Moses basket - roll up a blanket or towel tightly up one side to make it more snug and line the bottom with a nighty or t shirt you've worn!

I feed on demand (or when I feel it;s been a long time!) about every 3/4 hrs in the day and 2/3 hrs at night. He did have a little spell of sleeping from 10 - 4am but it was a very little spell and now he's awake about every 2 and a half hrs - however he goes straight back to sleep now.
