wat is it really? been hearing about it for a while now.. does it really make baby sleep for longer periods?

Rusks are like big biscuits, easy to soak in milk for a first food
personally i hate them as they are packed with sugar

As for sleeping longer, years ago they used to put them in a last bottle, which has been found to be dangerous

I use the reduced sugar ones, Harry loves them!!

Never heard that they help sleeping though

DF's mum used to give our dog Jake them when he was a pup! he loved them!

I know people used to put rusks in the bottle of milk but they say not to do it now. I think it says in my book to not give rusks until 6 months old.

mmm... rusks.........

i was raised on them! can't wait to start giving alice the odd half, so i can munch on the other half

I am weaning my LO at the moment so have been reading up on stuff and all the guidlines say not to give gluten till 6 months cos of risk of baby getting coeliac(sp?) disease in later life. Rusks contain gluten, Farleys ones definately do, not sure about other brands though. I am giving them a miss till she reaches 6 months because I'd hate it if she got health problems and it could have been down to what she ate when she was young. Baby rice is good for filling them up though and can be mixed with EBM.

Jam has about 2rusks a day, he will have a big dinner, a yoghurt, a rusk and a feed then sleep for awhile but never all thru the night?
and theyre reduced sugar ones too!

Ive found them a great first food. NEVER found them to be dangerous

My son had them and my daughters eating them aswell. Its been an ongoing thing in our family, everyones been brought up on them.

I get the reduced sugar ones and add some milk. Make sure the big chunks have been smoothed out and its slightly runner, then give it to Elora who gobbles it down.

Hasnt made her sleep longer though, but when time goes on and babys are eating more during the day, they will sleep longer at night.

everything these days is being blamed for disease! soon you won't be able to give your baby anything but breast milk until it is a year old! I will be giving Logan rusks - I am looking forward to it and it was one of the first things I thought about when we talked about weaning Yum yum! lol

both my girls loved them and I love them too! I'll definitely be stocking up on them for Sam next time I'm in th UK.
You can get gluten free ones now as well.......

I meant adding them to a bottle is dangerous
It used to be an old thing didn't it adding to a bottle to make them sleep longer

My nan used to add a slice of bread to the last bottle to make babies sleep longer!

I havn't used rusks with Aaliyah...used everything else but rusks lol...No reason for it though. I read on the bounty website earlier that no food is ment to make ur baby go longer between feeds...when Aaliyah has her food in the day, after breakfast and dinner she will have a bottle too but still only go 4-5 hours unless she's asleep but would go anything up to 14 hours at night and that was just on dinner and tea but I have started to give her breakfast today too as she has to be on 3 meals a day to go on step up milk at the end of this month.

It s a bit scary if you ask me. Everything seems to have a health warning these days. But they way I see it is if rusks were good enough for me and no harm was caused to me by them, then they are good enough for my kids. :D

You know what while im on the subject I had a letter the other day and on it read 'warning may cause paper cuts' :rotfl: the world has gone mad!

oo i love rusks but ive never given them to my kids. possibly because ive eaten them all before they get chance  :rotfl:

I didn't like them because if you mix them with milk (not bottle obviously..I mean a bit of milk for for breakfast or something) they go really stodgy and I just couldn't get the right consistency.
Plus, If you give them like a biscuit they make such a sticky mess!
