I am temporarily only feeding from one side as we realised that a lot of the feeding issues on the other side were caused by the pain I'm in from bad nipple damage making me fearful of her even trying (every touch of her flailing hands hurts and initial latch is agony). We're hoping that a few days without being fed from will let it recover enough to put her back on.

In the meanwhile I've started expressing from that side to keep my milk supply up but I'm unsure how often to do it so as not to end up with too much or too little. We're not feeding her what I express as dont want to introduce bottle until she gets the technique sorted and we've not had much luck with cup or syringe feeding.

Do I pump after every feed, every other feed, at set intervals? And how long for?

Well I had to give in and feed from both as she's been feeding since 9am(!) and she clearly wasn't getting enough milk from just one side. I just hope this side satisfies her enough soon so we can go out before the shops shut! At least I don't need to express for a while now.

I would pump every time she feeds from other one hon just incase you want to go back to it for feeding or you do decide to too up with bottles. Dd won't feed from my right no matter what we try so I've been using the tomee tipee closer to nature bottles and dd is going from them to breast no probs. good luck x x
