Expressed milk

I exclusively bf'd lo for a few days and stopped just as my milk was coming in & started to combination feed as my nipples were pure agony & I felt I couldn't cope. Now I casually express, when I do in the cup it looks like there are layers, one more white than the other -is this normal?

I think the whiter milk is your hind milk, that's the stuff with the calories in xx

You should notice that the milk is quite watery when it first starts coming out and then appears thicker. I leave my bottles in the fridge for a few days and they get a really good layer of cream on the top - I give them a good shake before feeding.

Thing is, I'm not getting alot out I'm struggling abit, I only notice once its been expressed.
