Another question.

This morning as i was quietly looking out of the bedroom window listening to the thunder storm, there was an almighty flash and very loud bang and a house up the road from me seemed to have exploded, I jumped a mile in the air, as did the cats and rang 999.
I was shaking and scared to death for at least half an hour after, I have been very nervous and quite stressed since then, i wouldnt have harmed the baby would i? I do suffer with my nerves hence all the questions. I have had the odd pain since but not a lot.

I burst into tears for the first time this morning because i am so scared of loosing this baby, through stress or something injuring it.

I wouldn't have thought so. Babies are quite hardy little things and well protected in the womb. They don't start hearing until around week 16 if I remember correctly.

I read an article a few weeks ago about a woman whose parachute didn't open when she did a jump, unbeknown to her she was a couple weeks pregnant and the baby survived.

I think that stress affects your baby if it's extreme and long term, your bub should be no worse off after what happened this morning.

Thank you, you have made me feel a bit better about it :D

Thats mad how the lady survived the jump without a parachute nevermind the baby!

It was in last months Glamour if I remember rightly, I thought it was shocking too!

Hi Flame,
I wouldn't worry too much... I was reading yesterday that little growing babies are quite resiliant in there... it would take some big trauma to you to have any real effect.

Hope you've calmed down a little now. x :D

Apparently it was lightening hitting someones tv aerial, although i'm sure it wouldnt make that big a bang or flash.

I am a little calmer now thank you Kirlykird, although a little annoyed because my midwife refuses to see me until i am 9 weeks pregnant.

cant stop you doing you're gp :)

My GP is absolutely useless.

I am thinking of changing GPs at some point.

I read something that said short bursts of stress are good for the baby. It said that it helped prepare them for changes of emotions ...It said it was prolonged stress that had an effect....But then you can prolly find an article that says anything if you look hard enough.

Im sure you're baby is fine, i dont think any of us can say we havnt had a major stress during been PG so dont threat.

Cant you just see a different GP? If i call up i can ask to see any GP i want..

There is only one GP at our surgery and one nurse and one midwife.

Does anyone know of any private midwives you can go to?
