I havent had my 6 wks check yet because Holly is only 4wks!! but I would like to start back at my pilates class once a week. Does anyone know if i can do this without having seen the GP?
Depending on what kind of birth you had. If it was vaginal and no tearing and you feel ok, moderate excersise like pilates once or twice a week will be fine. Just dont over do it
I waited for my six weeks check up but the GP didn't actually check anything. She just asked me if I felt OK?! Which I did
Anyway, I think that you should follow your body. Assuming that you didn't have any tears or stiches, I would probably start with very mild stretching more than actual exercising. I would also avoid advanced tummy exercizes. I've done a lot fo pilates before pregnancy and continued doing it right through the delivery day but I did not do much for the first two months: I didn't really have time (or I was just too sleepy) or I didn't feel right when I tried doing some more serious positions.
You have to wait 6 weeks before starting exercise....?? I've been carrying stuff and shopping and heavy pushchairs up and down stairs and walking miles upon miles... I thought it was good for me... I feel fine.. back aches a bit (but think thats from carrying lil miss all the time ) but I just jumped back into the swing of things as I felt fine. Also I was told the more exercise you get the quicker you stop bleeding and I hate wearing pads... On the upside I'm fitting back into all my pre pregnancy clothes already
