The one bloody symptom I have had through-out this pregnancy is a reoccuring gum infection. This is my 3rd in nineteen weeks and I am in bits...

I am off to the emergency dentist tomorrow and I suspect my 3rd course of antibiotics as they won't do anything whilst I have an infection.

Is this going to hurt the baby? I feel terrible about yet another dose of tablets...

I have taken 4 paracetamol today (not in one go!) the last 2 were at 7pm so can I take 2 more before bed?

I am in the worst pain I have ever been in, it comes in waves and when it hits I am literally rendered to tears and cold sweats - this has been going on since I got in at 6pm... Surely my body cannot take this pain much longer and it is going to affect bub?

I am in PJ's and a cardi and I have the heating on but I am still cold. Honestly this is just unbearable.

I need a tooth removed and if the dentist won't do it, I swear I'll rip it out myself. I cannot go through this pain any more

Sorry to be so pathetic, I am trying to keep calm and stop crying when the pain hits as I don't want to hurt bub but it is so hard.

I am the same hunni, i was on antibiotics last week and the pain has now come back! Im at the dentist tomorrow and im going to ask him to take it out, hope he will!? Hope you get sorted soon xxx

Thanks hun,

I've had infections before but this is another level, I am in a bit of a state to be honest and need to calm down.....

When the pain hits I am just unable to do anything other than sob and it's happening every 5-10 minutes.

Not good.

Sounds like you are in hell honey! I keep getting headache's and am popping paracetamol all the time.. I hope it clears up soon. Anything like bonjella (sp) help??

Hi Hun, I'm a dentist in Cardiff.. What have they said is the cause of your toothache? Gums tend to get slightly softer and are more likely to bleed during pregnancy due to hormones. Generally gingivitis in pregnancy tends to be an exacerbation of a pre-existing condition. If it's the tooth causing pain then they can "open up the tooth" which should get you out of pain, although they may wait to complete any treatment till after baby born...
I tried a long appointment on a lady who was 26 weeks pregnant, and I don't think I will try again because she was so uncomfortable and dizzy lying down all that time!!
Hope you get it sorted.. Stressed mummy is no good!! If you need any advice pm me. Good luck!

Oh no, not again! Hope you can get it sorted out. Don't worry about the antibiotics, they wouldn't give them to you (or would as least warn you) if there was any chance of them not being safe.

After this, labour will be a breeze for you I reckon!

Oh Hun I feel your pain, literally.

I think you needto have a chat with dentist re treatment, as tere must be something they can do.

Weighing it up it may be worth having that X-ray as the stress on you and baby due to pain is no good. As far as I'm aware antibiotics are fine

Hope you get sorted xx

X-rays should be fine in pregnancy. People get nervous about taking them and having them but in all fairness, the primary beam is relatively a long way away from your baby and there is negligible risk to the developing foetus. I generally avoid taking routine X-rays in pregnant women just because people get twitchy about it, but if it is required for diagnostic purposes and will help get you out of pain I would take it. The radiation dose is also very small too, nothing like a large chest X-ray or anything...

Thanks ladies,

I saw a lovely dentist today (I am with an NHS practice and emergencies are walk-in so this was a dentist I'd not seen before)

The good news is that he didn't think my infection was bad enough to need antibiotics   I was in so much pain last night I was convinced I'd need the tooth ripped right out

I am back next Thursday to have the filling removed in the tooth that is causing me the problem, and he will then have a better idea of what needs to be done - just like you said klferrin he has said he can then pack the tooth and I can complete treatment after bub is here.

I am happy with today's appointment and really liked the dentist!

I am still in pain but after yesterday evening I feel a million times better

sweety toothache is the worst pain ever, nothing touches it its terrible as moainly the pain comes from the nerves

why the FUCK do you have nerves in your teeth anyway? nice one 'creator'

plus its constant, at least labour comes in waves

The way I see it is that labour is natural and the female body is designed to cope with it.

Teeth are not meant to cause you pain that makes you cry and want to rip your own head off!

plus its constant, at least labour comes in waves

See last night toothache was coming in waves?? It was every few minutes though for almost 3 hours and I was in tears (proper shaky sobs, my OH looked like he was ready to leave home!)

It did make me think of labour as I was saying to OH "Oh my god its coming again" before every pain.

Thank God it eased off though as I couldn't have coped for much longer
