Hi All - we are really struggling to come up with a boys name for this LO. With our first it was no problem, we both had a gut reaction to Ben and knew it was the right name. It's not happening in the same way this time round, neither of us are getting the same reaction to any name.

My current front runner is Ethan. But the problem with it is we both want a name that can be shortened to give a friendlier version (or lengthened when they are being naughty). So our first son is Benjamin and he is just Ben most of the time, but gets his full name when we mean business. And that works really well, so ideally we'd like the same for his little brother. But I don't really think you can shorten Ethan - DH joked that as we live in Yorkshire it would just be Eeee! Other option would be Ethe but don't really like that.

A second option I'm considering is Issac, which would shorten to Zach - do you think that works? What about the spelling of Zach - would it be too confusing to explain to a small child why the short form of his name is spelled differently?

Thanks.

My boy is Isaac, and he gets Zac and sometimes I call him eyes! Lol! I like Ethan too, but not sure about Eth.

When he was born my dad said he didn't like Isaac, so renamed him Zac! Ha ha! It's kinda stuck. At first it felt a bit weird calling him Zac as it is so far away from Isaac, but we soon got used to it!

What about Zachary?

You could do Callum and shorten it to Cal.

Or Jayden and call him Jay.
