Estimated birth weight via scan..?

mummies! did u get an EBW via scan? was it a massive difference than the actual birth weight

just curious. at my 31 wks 4d scan they told me she weighed 4lb 5oz at the time and was only measuring a day over my due date.

all the pregnancy tickers were saying around the same thing.. but everyone who i kno has had a preemie weighed less than that.. im confused

i hope i dont push out a 12 pounder!

They estimated that Thea would be between 7lb 9oz - 8lbs 2oz and she was 7lbs 7oz at 4 days overdue.

my midwife had a feel of my bump and measured it and told me iwould be expecting about 8.5lbs this was when i was about 25 weeks pg, and i had jakob at 8lb1oz

My midwife felt my bump when I was overdue and said well into 8lbs and another said well into 9lbs he was 8lb 8.5oz

 

I was told D may have IUGR (small for dates) at 30 weeks coz I measured small, had a growth scan at 31 weeks and he was bang on dates apparently (dunno what weight though) then at 34 weeks he was 5lb 13oz born! 2 centiles above average, so was alot heavier than they had told me originally. Was told he would of been 9 or 10lb term if he had carried on growing on that centile!
It really is a complete guesstimate, but does help give an idea if the baby is smaller than expected.

I was told 8lb 6oz with about 2 weeks to go, and she was 11lb 2oz when she was born, i wouldnt trust growth scans...i should of had a section they said for how big she was and for how long i was in labour for...section next time 4 me!

My Midwife told me (from palpating) she thought my baby would be quite petite - 6-7 lb - this was a week before she was born. She was 7lb8oz and was early

Must be pretty hard to guess by feeling and by scanning I guess!

I was told at about 25 weeks Harrison would be atleast 10lb but when he was born he was 7lb 10oz and that was 11 days overdue. I wouldnt worry hun!

birth weight scans are inaccurate ebony. Especially after 30 weeks

I was induced a week early as there was no fluid left around Katie and I was told she would only be about 4lb but she was 5lb 8oz born.

I don't think they can be very accurate.

I don't think they're accurate at all!

When I had Sam I had a scan at 35 weeks and they said he was about 5 1/2 lbs. He was born at 41 weeks and was 5lb 11oz so according to them he put on no weight for 6 weeks!

When I had Isabelle she was estimated to be about 5 1/2lbs again at about 35/36 weeks and she was born at 41+ weeks and was only 6lb 6ozs! So again going by their measurements she only put on 1lb in the last 6 weeks.

When I was about 38 weeks pg, the midwife prodded my belly and said it felt like I was already carrying an 8lb-er

Lydia was actually born at 42 weeks 4 days, and she was 10lbs 10oz...so did she grow 2lbs 10oz in 4 weeks? possibly so...I don't know how fast babies are supposed to grow lol.

Mines was about 2lb out. Joe was much smaller than they predicted by the scan but I knoew I wasnt as big as they said... Jess was 9lb 3 and I knew I wasnt carrying a baby that big,

Whwn i was preg the MW said i should be expecting a 7lbish baby, Kaiden came in at 8lb12 and he was a few weeks early thank god he came when he did LOL XkelX

arghhh im concerned now.... ive been hoping for an 8 1/2 lber at term, but after what u have all said i think i shud just forget my estimated weight, and pray to every god out there :l

my midwifes were right with my sons weight they said hes size was average and he will probley be around 7lb and he was 7lb 1oz

My midwife thinks I am having a "large" baby ( same MW as Jade) and has booked me in for a scan - if they are so inacurate whats the point???

What is classed as Big and will they normally offer a caesarian or is this only offered if you have trouble????
