Hello Girlies,

I am loving having all this time to myself. I am taking afternoon naps, making myself tasty food and pottering around the house and garden. If it wasn't for the back and hip ache I'd be out shopping alot more and doing lunch with my friends.

The calm before the storm as I'm told so I'm definitely making the most of it :cheer:

Xxx

I had my friend over for the weekend which was lovely and really took my mind off any worries. Yesterday the weather was fab and we had lunch outside in Copenhagen and just wandered around.

I am working a bit but I'm also taking it easy watching Oprah on TV and reading fashion mags now I can actually look forward to being able to wear nice clothes again

skatty its not long for you now is it?

10 days  I see my midwife tomorrow, another doc for a scan and blood tests on Thursday and then next Wed I have my pre appointment and then section on Thursday! Everytime I get a twinge or a back ache I start panicking I'll go into labour  I don't actually think she is low enough though because I can still walk normally and I only get up to wee once a night at the most! I'm not even sure if I've had any braxton hicks.

Skatty, didn't realise it was so soon, how exciting! Must be lovely knowing exactly when you're going to meet her! :)

Yeah Minxy it is exciting, the time is just flying by! I have something happening nearly every day until then so I know it wont slow down.

How is little Stanley? Are you breastfeeding? If so did you have any probs? Hope you dont mind me asking its just that I'm really hoping I can BF :)

Yep like budge both my girls are now at school so i have a few weeks to myself :cheer: ,been out with my mum today and hope to have my hair and nails done in the next couple of weeks :D xx

yeah ive got to get my hair trimmed too nicky! i have an appointment next monday but it now clashes with the midwife

We only managed a couple of days :(

All I can say is, be prepared!! I asked for support in the hospital and although I got a lot of help with latching on (have had that many people's hands on my nipples you wouldn't believe ), I still felt I wasn't given the information I needed.

Stanley was badly jaundiced and I was recovering so we both slept all the time, but when I told staff I was concerned we weren't feeding enough all 'I was told was 'feed on demand', 'feed on demand'. Even when I mentioned to someone Stanley hadn't woken and fed for 8 hours all I got was rolled eyes  , told to relax and 'just feed him when he wakes'. No-one even suggested I could top up with formula.

It was only on day 4 when he started to cough up bile and had lost almost a pound in weight that I asked for a bottle of formula, I think the midwives were glad to give it me to shut me up! When I saw how he thrived I stayed with it and haven't looked back.

Yep, I gave up quick but I was so stressed and relived when I saw my baby feed. I'm still glad he must have got some colostrum and I will try again with future babies now I know more.

I know I was pretty naive but I really felt that despite being bombarded with information during pregnancy, once I was on that ward with my baby, I was left to it, when I needed more advice than ever!

Sorry for the essay Skatty (but you asked! :rotfl: ) I just wanted to inform you and really hope you're successful and manage better than me! Good Luck!
