Engorgement

Owww bloody owww! How do I keep this under control! If I express will I keep producing this much milk? It's the first day that my milk is coming through and my boobs have tripled in size and they were already massive they look like footballs, thing is I don't have a breast pump yet I think it could be worth getting one,

I was planning on breast feeding for a few weeks but I think my back could snap before then!

don't worry things will settle down. The only time mine get like that now are when my LO suddenly goes a lot longer than normal between feeds and then if I'm very engorged I'll express a little bit off for some relief but not huge amount in case he wakes up just after I do it. You could try hand expressing some off? I'd do just enough to make you comfortable as otherwise you'll just be sending signals for your boobs to produce even more milk!

Give it a day or 2 Hun and they will calm down

Hot flannels will help

Expressing will mess up the supply demand from him

Yeah I found hot flannels and also a bath helped. Would lie in my stomach for ages. I was finding that Scarlett was her worst at latching on then cos they were too big for her. I'm expressing solely now and it's such a relief to get pump out and get rid of it. Hope your better x x

Stacey I'm in love! Was in boots earlier and spotted heat and cool gel pads specifically for boobs. You can use them cool for a blocked duct like I have and then heat them up for engorgement and for pre feeding to get milk flowing. Best £13 I've spent!! X x

Ooooh I saw those the other day and nearly bought them but wasn't sure they'd be any good. You recommend them then? Might have to go back!

Stacey they will calm down after a couple of days. Mine were mahoosive when my milk came in and are much better now. Although still sore when Josie sleeps longer than usual x

Yeah defo, especially when you hear them up. Also seem to have got my milk flowing with the heat cos I've expressed loads! I'll keep you posted cos I'm trying to get rid of a blocked duct with them but they are like bliss when they are on x
