Has anyone had an endometrial scratch? What is it like? Is it painful? Did you get pregnant?

I didn't have a scratch but the NHS hospital I cycled at are introducing it as standard for all IVF patients from January. Their research shows that it could improve their success rates from 20-25% to 35-40% x

As far as I understand its a biopsy of the uterus lining which causes more white blood cells to collect and improve the chances of implantation.

I had and endo scratch on my last ivf cycle and booked in again at the start of January.
I take a coupe of ibuprofen and paracetamol 1-2 hours prior to it.
It is like a really aggressive smear test, a couple of seconds of discomfort but not pain and some spotting for a few hours afterwards.
Really nothing to worry about and I would highly recommend.
I did get pregnant from that cycle but sadly miscarried due to immune issues. I believe the scratch was what got me pregnant tho!

I'm having mine on 6th jan so I'll let you know! Nurse told me it's a little uncomfortable and take paracetamol and ibuprofen an hour before and to bring a pad. Hopefully it'll prove to be worth it xx

The scratch was ok, I had a different doctor to last time and he was a lot more aggressive this time but it was still fine.
I took all the painkillers an hour before the appointment, the doctor scanned me first, looked at my lining and checked ovaries for cysts then he did the endo scratch.
This time it was painful but only for 10 seconds max so very manageable and shows the doctor was doing a good job (that's what I kept telling myself!). Once it was over there was no more pain just some spotting. It literally was sore for 10 seconds.
At bedtime I started getting some period type pains but 2 paracetamol sorted that out and by morning all was fine.

That doesn't sound too bad. Is it just like the embroyo transfer but the doctor moves a scalpel around or something? I really can't imagine it!

Yes very similar just with an internal scan first and then the scratch, it was painful but only for 10 seconds max. I know he did a very through job as I'm still spotting lightly now!
