Hi everyone,

I'm on my 8th cycle TTC. I have a short luteal phase and after lots of scans I now know I have an endometrial cyst.

What can I expect to happen next? Google tells me my fertility is reduced, I'm at more risk of eptopic pregnancy & miscarriage so it's not painting a good picture. My gynaecologist appt isn't until July so I feel stuck.

Questions:
1) what is the reality of having this?
2) is there any point going private and can I even get private insurance to cover it now I've got the scan results? I don't think they cover pre-existing problems and I don't have the money to pay for it out-right.

I'm feeling really alone with all of this :-(

A short luteal phase can be caused by low progesterone. Do you have spotting? Have your doctor check your hormone levels and make sure everything is normal. As far as the cyst goes, it depends on how big it is and how many you have. If it's just one, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Stay away from alcohol and caffeine and that will help. People who get cysts can still get pregnant. My friend got pregnant and she had a 7mm cyst that went down on it's own and her baby is doing great!

The short luteal phase is your biggest problem. Check out Vitex, it's known to help with this. It's an herbal drug you can take throughout your cycle. A lot of people have had great success with it and got pregnant while using it.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for this. Yes, I have low progesterone - the test came back real low and it's an issue I've had since puberty. I used to be prescribed progesterone (provera) but now I've been told I just have to keep trying, even though it's too short for implantation. I did manage to make it longer (12 days!!!) with soya isoflavones, but have stopped taking it because it can make the cyst worse, so now it's gone back down again. Do you think Vitex will impact the cyst? I feel reassured, thank you. Everything I read about endometrial cysts made me fear a long tricky path ahead.

So I've just done some googling and Vitex is good for endometrial cysts and luteal phases! Hurray. Thank you!

Yay!! Good luck!! Read the instructions carefully and after 3 months, cut down to just one pill a day. You can take it throughout the whole month. :) Once you get your BFP, slowly wean off of it throughout the first trimester.
