finally here to tell my tale
having spent most of my pregnancy in hospital from 25 weeks with kidney stones and a blood clot, it was decided to get me to 37 weeks and be induced , I was so ready for this because of the pain and taking 32 tablets a day BUT in hind sight I wish to god I had waited it out to 40 weeks, having had 3 natural births I would never ever go against the force of nature again esp when its before term the epidural took 3 attempts and had damaged my back so thats to be sorted and my c section tore causing extra probs and to top it of being induced for me simply caused a prolonged labour which ended up in a section anyway docs were like vultures around the bed, you'd think they were on commission for every section they did
anyhows I was given my first pessary on the 19th jan at 6pm, by 9pm i was getting niggles and by 2 am contractions but my kidneys started up too i was 1 cm dilated.
at 10 am they just managed to break my waters and by 12pm I was moved to delivery at 2/3cm dilated. Contractions were every 2 mins and running one into another, i tried gas and air but my kidney pain was overpowering and it was recomended I have an epidural, never had one before so I was gobsmacked at first as to how all the pain went BUT my contractions then slowed and they popped me on the drip which I really didnt want as I know it can lead to a section
By 4pm i was only 3/4 and baby had swung to my right after laying to my left throughout my pregnancy
then had a snooze
at 7pm her heart rate dipped once to 75 and straight away the docs were pressuring for a section, there is no way i would have put her at risk but I felt they were moving in for the kill to quickly
my midwife was excellent and hoofed the docs out as they had me in tears they monitered her via her head and she was showing no signs of distress, midwife got my to gently push to see if markers on monitor moved (which they did) and they said she would be here by 10pm.
but by then I had not dilated anymore and they decided to inject her poor head with a local and take 3 samples of blood to know for sure she wasnt in distress, 2 were too bubbly to test but the final one showed she was ok.
by 12pm I was soooooooo tired and then her heart rate dropped below 72 and ranged betwween that and 40 it was then decided that enough was enough and I was taken to theatre in tears, my last birth was 1 hour 40 mins and I felt so naff that this had taken the route it had
my hubby is a butcher so I asked him not to watch as if he looked worried it must look bad i can remember the burning smell as I was cut open but when I heard Elyse cry it was so emotional. she was here safe and sound and I knew eventually my recovery for my other probs could now begin
sadly on stitch and tidy up i felt everything down my right side and needed an emergency top up and morphine
so at 37 weeks Elyse came into the world weighing 6lbs 13/5 oz a good weigh considering I now weighed 1lb less than my pre pregnancy weight, within 3 weeks she now weighs 81b 15 oz little hollow legs and she is fine and healthy, which is such a relief considering all the drugs I have taken over the last 4 months
congrats to all I missed having their little bundles
