Are they worth it?

I use the avent manual one and use to do ok with it. Use to express every morning and get about 125ml. Then I stopped because I had a good supply going in the fridge.

Now that supply is slowly going and when ever I try and express with my pump I only get about 30-60 ml.

So the avent electric pump is reduced in tesco and OH has said he'd get me one if I want one and if I think it will help. So what I'm asking is will it? Will I be able to pump more with it?

My lo has started to refuse bottles and I want to start giving him them again to get him use to them again iykwim? But I do t want to waste money on an electric breast pump is it's not going to be any better then the manual one.

Any advice welcome :)

I'm not sure if you will be able to express more but I found them much quicker and easier. How old is your little one? Your supply starts to settle down around 3/4 months.

He's five months on Monday. My friend has suggested that I if eyed off one side during the night and express off the other on the morning but I haven't tried it yet. I'm just not too keen on that idea for some reason.

I got myself a manual breatpump but later on got tired of pumping so I decided to get an electric one...and i liked it. Got one from Avent. It's not too costly and got it in Amazon actually. I've seen some other brands that appears to be affordable and durable, just visit the site of

I've got the advent breast pump manual and electric and I did find the electric great until 6 months but it now makes a funny noise and doesn't get much (and I can't get much with the manual either) I think the pump is going......

So it might be ok, but on the other hand it may just be that you struggle to pump now your supply is settled. The hospital grade pumps are supposed to be the most efficient.....but also expensive.

I didn't bother and as soon as I wasn't pumping anything in a session I stopped bothering and I just give him formula when I leave him and he needs milk. And I don't leave anything if I'm only gone a few hours as he is fully established on solids (10months).

Just a thought about the bottle.....have you tried a sippy cup? I tried mine with a sippy cup at 4 months and he took it well so we did away with the bottles. It's supposed to be more complimentary with breastfeeding so they don't get nipple confusion.
