Wow!! Jamaica! Thats on top of my list of where i want to go..I am sure its very very beautiful...and anyways Ebony you go girl..for being proud of your country and your roots!

yep.. its absolutely breathtaking!

budge is just a troublesome brute...

i leave her to her pole dancing embarassments :rotfl:

Ebony, when my mum did some kinda course where she works (for NHS) they told her the same thing about a black persons spine and said thats why alot of black people have more 'sticky out' (id say sexy) bum's. I remember her telling me when I was about 14, cause I asked her why I could have a bum and dance like my mate ha ha :rotfl: . She used the technical term for it as well, but basically said there is an extra curve on the bottom of the spine which causes it!!

Were the NHS lying AGAIN - bloody government have a lot to answer for!! :D

The pic you were gonna use as your advtar 0 you should just resize it and use it as a sig instead - would be a classic !

Whats the national language? Jamaican? are you going to teach your baby the language?

well our standard language is english... but its not our first language if that makes sense..

we talk patois and u dont speak plain english until u start sch.

but english is taught (like spanish) rather than just knowing it (if that makes sense)

ill definately teach my child patois.. most def!

my sister sounds so cute speaking patois...lol

i speak only patois in my house anyways... but my o/h (or ex - not sure a yet..lol) was born here but his family are of different west indian background..

i only speak english to him...

mind you.... my sister only knew jamaican until she started nursery 2 yrs ago...

now she speaks englsih mainly...

just speak it... ur baby will catch on

thats what i said.,.. the standard language is english.....

if u are from jamaica and kinow the poor people who have never bn to school or have poor educational background..

ask them to speak englsih for u... and u will hear how they sound....

so what if they dont write like me.. i dont get it... if they are write something formal.. i wudnt expect them to write like this

im not in an english class so i need to write 'the queens english'

in patois we dont say 'that' we say 'dat' i write how i sspeak most of the time.

every english person write the same...? every englsih person talk the same..? no.

i was born in falmouth...trelawny

and i have a very good erducational background and can speak english as anyone else here.. but i choose to write how i write....

if u didnt understand me then that wud be something... but u do..

so i dont c wat da problem is

Roxanne I am english and living in denmark. Me and my DH are both going to talk to our daughter in english and she will pick up danish everywhere else. If we were living in England though my DH would have spoken only danish to her otherwise she wouldn't be able to speak with her danish family.

Does your DH speak maltese? The reason we can do this is because my DH has very good english and it comes as natural for him to speak english as it does danish.

There is a very good book called "growing up with two languages" that gives examples, advice and case studies. I can give you the details if you want, they sell it on amazon.

I think it is a great start in life to grow up with two languages :D
