Hi Girls,

Well Im thinking of starting to wean Alyssia it seems she getting more and more ready. I went out and bought loads of jars mainly of breakfast stuff to try her with then I thought well maybe I should try her on baby rice first or rusks? But then I hear bad things about rusks so wonder whats the best way to start? Oh and another thing i they are not supposed to have dairy or meats until 6 moths how are they making these jars of cauliflower cheese and spag bol etc?? Sorry if that seems a thick question ha ha

Use rice first to get her use to the texture of it them move to porridge the boxes are fab for starting off. Start with one meal a day then progress over coming weeks but have no idea about ingredients I think they use a formula substitute xx

I think the dairy is OK in small measures in the food. I thing puree'd fruit is a good start (but obviously nothing citrus) then just tasters to get them used to it. We LOVE rusks though :)

They might turn their nose up at things 1st, it doesn't necessarily men they don't like it just pop it in the free_r to retry another day

My lo would not take to baby rice but LOVED puree'd fruit. I started off buying the pouches while we figured out what flavours he liked and then gradually started making big batches myself which was a lot cheaper!
Also, I heard somewhere that when starting to wean you should introduce flavours gradually so as to keep track of any allergies etc - I think the 'meals' in a jar such as cauliflower cheese etc may contain too many ingredients?? Just a thought? Good luck :)

We have given little man baby rice for the last 2 days and it is a complete success so far!! The first day I accidentally made it too milky but I think that was prob good as it gently got him used to the new texture!! Yesterday he was like a baby bird and eat most of the bowl then demolished his bottle!! We are going to try apple as his first taste and mix it with baby rice the first time to break him in gently!!

My LO loves mashed bananas , mango and butternut squash . She hated baby rice it just got spat out . I did use Ella's kitchen pouches at first but I have started making my own as it works out alot cheaper but I still have the pouches and a few jars in at home as there gd for when your out and about xxx
