Wonder if anyone has any suggestions, my little boy is nearly 3 weeks old. He is doing really well, he is sleeping 4 hours at a time from 7 until 11 and 11 until 3am. He then is waking at 5.30 and screaming the place down!!. He is bottle fed and has taken a full feed at 3, he doesnt appear to have wind, but this is happening most nights/mornings. As every other feed is 4 hourly i dont think its hunger, but i can understand why he isnt able to sleep at least 3 hours at this time. The room is very dark and he is swaddled so am really stumped. Also how long do you let your baby cry before lifting him/her?

Thanks

Alison

That's really really good that he is sleeping 4 hours at a time for being so young. I had that with Charlie, and know how lucky I was.

Does your LO have a dummy? Maybe he just wants the comfort of sucking at that time in the morning.

He cant keep a dummy in his mouth, he is okay when i put it in but if it falls out he starts to scream again. Incidentally my little boy is called Charlie too!!

Have you just tried feeding him, it may well be that he is hungry.
Ewan would always take afew extra feeds in the morning, He is still quite young, might even be a growth spurt

I have tried feeding him, he only takes a little bit then falls back asleep for about an hour. If i sit and hold the dummy in then he will sleep so i think its more a comfort thing than hunger. Now if only there was a device to keep a dummy in their mouths!!!

I red someone said you cxould tie some muslin cloth to the handle bit to weight it down and it should stay in

dunno if it works though

It doesn't matter what times I feed Stanley, he ALWAYS wakes for the day between 5.30-6am.

I figured he was just a morning baby? Maybe your LO is the same?

I don't know WHERE Stanley gets it from! :D

Oh Lord dont say that, I am so NOT a morning person!!!!! I will try the muslin thingy to see if that works.

There must be a Charlie thing going on here!!!

My little Charlie slept through from 7 weeks (sounds daft but I miss the night feeds now...was so sleepy and quiet time!!!) and he wakes at around 5ish every morning for his dummy, sucks it for about 5 minutes then falls back to sleep until 6.30am. Daft thing is on the weekend when we bring him onto our bed (on top of the covers between us...plenty of room so we dont overheat/smother him!) and he sleeps sold until about 8.30/9am...really dont understand why our bed is so much better than all the room in his cot.
