Hi

I am 7+5 and have a scan booked this morning. I am just wondering if I need to have a full bladder or not? The midwife didn't say and I forgot to ask!

Thanks guys xx

Fairly certain at only 7 weeks it'll be a transvaginal scan so you should wee beforehand. With an adominal scan in the early stages (such as 12 weeks) it helps to have a full bladder.

That's great, thank you for your advice 😁

I'd have one just in case. I had an abdominal scan at 6+5 I think and was busting for a wee. They got to see all they needed though. If you don't need one you can always have a wee :)

I had a scan yesterday & i didn't drink that much water as i thought that i would be having a vaginal scan, I think that they usually try the abdominal scan first, Because they were able to see what they needed i never needed the vaginal scan, They dated me 6 weeks & 6 days so i would say definitely drink the water X

I had abdominal at 6 weeks and it was external. Full bladder needed x

Only just read the other replies, thanks guys. I went and had the scan with an empty bladder but they were able to do the abdominal scan, no internal needed. Dated me 7+2.

Dee

Did you get a PIC? I'm having my first scan today too. I'm almost 7 weeks. They told me this is going to internal scan. So will see :)

Lovely news Dee.

Hi yes I did get a picture but it's not that clear - not as clear as it looked on the screen anyway! I will attempt to attach it...

Thats a pretty good picture you can make out the placenta which is forming!! Mine (7 weeks) showed a peanut shape and a circle beside it which was the yolk sac.

Is the placenta the bit on the right underneath?
