Hi all. This is my 1st post here so I'll fill you in on my story. I'm 39 and currently expecting our 1st baby. However things took bad turn on Friday when I attended Early Pregnancy Clinic. I got internal scan as my dates led me to believe I was 9 weeks pregnant. The scan however measured baby as 6 weeks. The midwife basically said that when I go back for follow up appointment next Friday that one of 2 things will have happened - baby will have grown and my dates will have been wrong and everything will be ok, or baby will not have grown and I have to prepare for the worst. :-(

However my body still feels pregnant - nausea, tender boobs, tiredness and tummy swells throughout the day making it too uncomfortable for me to sleep on my tummy in bed at night. On the advice of my sister, who is a nurse and also currently pregnant, I took a pregnancy test yesterday morning, to see if my hormone levels were still up, and it read positive. Going by all these points I am so trying to remain positive throughout this week in the hope that all is OK on Friday morning and that my dates have been out.

this happened to me aswell and all it was is that my dates were wrong, I had a lot of internal scans and also a terrible pregnancy but all turned out well in the end xx

If I am 6 weeks as measured it's too early for heartbeat which isn't seen until week 7+. Maybe if all ok will c that next week :-)

Claire - I'm hoping my dates are wrong. Have taken the week off work. I know that there's nothing I can physically do to change the outcome at this stage but I am giving baby every chance by relaxing for the week before I go back to hospital. Thanks for your post - I know I'm not the only one this has happened to. xx

When I had to have an early scan at just under 6 weeks, I think I was measured at about 5+5 we saw a heart beat, the heartbeat can be seen from about 6 weeks so fingers crossed you will see it at the next scan!

Hey, I had pretty much the same thing, turned out my dates were wrong. When I went back the following week and saw a little tiny baby and a wee flickering heartbeat. Hopefully the same thing happens to you, I'm sure it will xxx

yeah I had so many bleeds that I had loads of early scan then at 16weeks they found that the placenta had almost detached itself from the wall of my womb and told me to expect the worst, that cleared up then at 20 weeks they decided that i should have an amnio done as Ellie was measuring the size of 17 weeks and they thought that she had a chromosome problem, one being Edwards syndrome and the other pacauds syndrome both no advised to carry on the pregnancy. The chromosome check came back normal so they just dome weekly scans and Ellie still was so so small then at 34 weeks I had a scan and a doppler scan and they said that the blood flow was decreasing from me to the baby and decided to deliver the next am, they told me that she would be a little under 3lbs but she was born at 4lbs 3oz. We spent 1 week in high dependancy and 3 weeks in special care and got home 3 weeks before her due date. the outcome was my placenta was full of blood clots

Hope that all goe well but as you can see pregnancy sometimes tests us xx

This has been the longest week of my life. Have been trying to think positively but today all that has just left me and I'm having a really bad day. :-(

welcome babe :)
firstly i had the same problem as you and i didnt see the heartbeat at my first scan, however at my second scan i found out i was 6 weeks and the heartbeat was there
