hey guys my best mate is in labour right now but shes only 34 weeks and im worried sick, im not exactly sure what happens this early so if anyone can tell me i'd be grateful. thanks

Hi,

I'm no expert but I think the earliest a baby has been delivered is 23 weeks so she's well past that. I'm guessing the baby will be kept in for a while and incubated but I'm sure they'll both be fine, she'll just want some support and plenty of visitors!

I hope it goes ok for her!

I hope things go well for her to, I think that anything over 30 weeks and the chances are dramatically increased, they may give her steroids to help develop the lungs but all the other organs are fully developed, pop into premature babies section on this forum and have a read of the success stories on there, it may put your mind at rest

she's had a baby boy named liam, 5lb 9.5oz, didnt breathe for the first 7 mins of his life  he's in intensive care now

oh how frightening, but what a good weight for being so early, that is a really good sign. Sending lots of love and hugs

had my dd at 35 +4 hun and she was fine after a week in hospital try not to worry

i can empthaise with early babys being born and there parents, we had our baby born early at 32 weeks... hes fighting fit now bless him..

Hope your friend & baby Liam are doing well.....

I had Jacob at 34 + 1 and he spent 2 weeks in special care but is doing so well now. He didn't have the sucking reflex when he was born so he was tube fed and was in special care until he could feed on his own. He was 5lb 12oz at birth and 4 months later is now 14lb 6oz so is thriving! Hope everything goes well for your friend

Sending lots of well wishes to your friend and her LO clairescunny55
