So as some of you may have heard, E-Coli has been found on the labour ward at my hospital (Singleton) Swansea. and 2 babies have died with a suspected third with the bug. It is stated a deep clean has been done and random spot checks are ensuring that midwives/doctors are clean. But they have still closed the premature baby ward and lots of people are moving hospital to have thier baby. My mother is going freaky and suggesting i ring the helpline and go to Bridgend hospital instead which is over an hours drive away plus we have been forcast very heavy snow next week lasting until christmas...my baby is due in 10 days and im so stressed right now. dont know what to do!!!

If it has been highlighted, then I bet the will be extra vigilant so as not to draw more attention?xx

I agree with Lulabell - it generally means that a hospital really kicks itself into gear. However I think you need to do what makes you most comfortable - birth is stressful and you need to be calm in your environment xxxxx

I agree with the others, generally when a hospital is in the spotlight they are extra careful as to not get more bad media against them. You need to make the choice which is best for you and will make you happy xx

I think if its in the news then the hospital will be extra careful with the cleaning etc ... there was a similar story about the hospital im going to a baby died due to doctors not picking up on things they should, but im still going there because i think its made them extra careful now. However its up to you if you dont feel comfortable look into other options, another hospital or a midwife lead unit? x

Altho I said hospital is likely to be extra vigilant, I do agree about if you are not happy about going there then you do what's right for you. You don't need extra stress and worry.xx

omg hun thats aswful to hear,no wonder your stressed and worried...i would be too,id talk to your midwife asap and ask about other alternative places if u really dont feel safe goin there or the hospital thats an hour away only thing i can suggest is settin off to go there when your in early labour so u kno you'll get there in plenty of time.my heart goes out to the poor babies mothers and families..bless them.xxxx
