Hi all,

My original due date was 2nd June and today I’m supposed to be 12+5 based on LMP. My scan today said I was 13+2 and due date is now 29th May. I know it’s not an exact science but how likely is it that the original probably still stands and the baby is just a bit bigger currently? My husband is 6 foot 5 so could it just be a giant already ha!

Mine was similar- I was definitely 10+5 when I had my scan (IVF) but I measured 11+3 so they changed my due date from the 6th to the 1st June. But then I saw my consultant today and he said no your due date is definitely 6th June no matter what the scan says! If you know your dates then stick to the original due date x

It happened to me also. They put me forward by a few days based on the scan but she was born on my estimated date. Saying that it is very unlikely your baby will arrive on EDD, the little rascals have their own ideas of when to grace the parents with their arrival :D x

Happened to me to. I was put forward by 5 days which the dates just didn't add up at all. I gave birthday 10 days past the due date they gave me or 5 days when I thought I was due.

it depends when you ovulated, because going by LMP assumes a certain conception time. In my last pregnancy i knew that going by LMP would be inaccurate as i had only had sex once and it was at least a week before I 'should' have ovulated. The scan confirmed an earlier due date and earlier conception, so i haver to go against the grain here and say trust the scan!

Going by my LMP and my actual dates from scans there is actually a week difference. Going by LMP I should be due end of March but my scan says a week later and they have all coincided the same x

The date based on LMP is rarely accurate as it assumes ovulation on day 14 which isn't the case for a lot of women. They will use the scan date as it's a lot more accurate. Unless you know exactly when you ovulated I'd assume the scan date is correct. A few days either side won't really make any difference as baby is unlikely to arrive on due date as pregnancy is only approx 40 weeks, it can be earlier or later. They won't let you go more than 12 days over the date you've been given though.

Thanks all, don’t imagine it’ll arrive on due date, I’m just trying to work out how far along I am to try to help with my anxiety! I have 4 apps, so I have kept 2 as the original date and moved 2 to the new date ...!!

Hi princess. Congratulations. Similar happened to me. I know when we conceived because I got a positive ovulation test and it was the only time we dtd. We had a early scan at the hospital at 9+5 and the size of baby matched my dates spot on. At my 12 wk scan baby was very wriggly and in a very awkward position that the lady really struggled to get measurements. I had to go for a walk and go back. She managed in the end but told me she wasn't happy with the measurements that she had took. And my due date from my scan put be back 3 days. I spoke to my midwife afterwards who was happy to go off my original date as there was only three days difference and said that we'll see at the 20 week scan. I have a private scan booked tomorrow so am interesting to see what they measure me at. I do think that sonographers can get it wrong sometimes because they are only human and it's them that draw the line on the ultersound to be measured. A millimetre can make all the difference in those early days.

Definitely just estimates. My due date was 13/12/17 based on LMP, but I have long cycles and know exactly when I ovulated so I’d calculated 19/12/17. My 12 week scan gave me an EDD of 17/12/17. My Hubby is 6ft 3 and my first baby was quite long considering I’m short.

you just can't tell, both my previous children measured 5 days ahead at their 12 week scan and one came on his due date and the other came 1 day after his due date. Been brought forward 5 days again with this little one so i'm going by my scan dates xx
