Due date bumped ahead?

At my 20 week appointment, the ultrasound tech moved my due date up by about a week based on the measurements. However, the actual conception could have only happened wiithin a 2 day time frame which would point to my original due date being correct.

So now! Is the doctor now going to be running with the idea that my due date is May 31st instead of June 6th? Are they going to consider me over-due by the time I reach that June 6th date and push for induction?

I guess I just don't understand how it works with babies. I'm thinking my baby might just be a little chunker (mama likes to eat!), and while I don't want to be pushing out a 12 lb baby if I wait until June 6th, is letting the baby cook to full-term not the best idea? Although I guess we're only talking a week here, and I don't know how vital that little amount of time is.

I'm surprised they've changed your dates now as dating is most accurate at 12ish weeks. Until then, pretty much all babies grow at the same rate, so dating at 12 weeks can be done to within a few days. growth varies more after that though, and obviously by birth the range of weights and sizes is quite large, so they tend to stick with the 12 week dates. My two measured bigger than average at the 20 week scan (and the scan automatically shows how many weeks those measurements would be considered average for) but my dates weren't changed...they were just big babies x

Oops..just realised you're in the US, sorry Have you had a dating scan before or is this the first time measurements were taken on a scan rather than just going by dates? x

And (sorry for all the replies ) you don't have to say yes to an induction. They don't usually induce you until you are nearly 2 weeks late, which by your dates would be 1 week late - there's a good chance you'll go into labour before then anyway x x

You are too funny! Thank you for all replies. I can't tell you how bummed out I was when I learned I wasn't going to get a scan at 12 weeks! My first scan was actually at 8 weeks, but that was just to confirm I had a viable pregnancy, and then this latest one at 20 weeks. I guess I shouldn't worry too much over the situation, my mind was just stuck on this for some odd reason today

According to my measurements I should have been moved up about a week too, but they never moved my due date cause its just a smaller baby.. maybe you should just pick a due date and stick to it xx

I had a scan at what I though was 9 weeks and she put me back 2 weeks to being only 7 weeks ahead. But at every scan since then (13 weeks, 16 weeks, 20 weeks and 23 weeks) all my measurments have been 2 weeks ahead, so I think my original dates may have been correct but she says the 7 week one was the most accurate so we are keeping that.
When they did a scan at 8 weeks to check for viability did they not measue baby then? xx

im in same boat, i know mine due date is within 2 days max of 9th july however they have give me 4th july...... im not to fussed as ill still look at 9th as my due date, i just get a little worried if i decided to have a section this time coz they usually do planned sections up to 2 weeks before ur due date so then that would mean ill actually be nearly 3 weeks early .x x

She said Jaiden was measured a week bigger at my 20 week scan but they don't move ur due date as growth may slow down nearer to the end of pregnancy so will average out. Xx

With my first, my date was moved forward twice and she still came a week earlier that that.

This time, I was told 2nd June, then I was told I was a day ahead but that they'd keep me as the 2nd, and since then I've measured two more days ahead - so for me, any one of the days between 28th may and 2nd of June, could be my due date... I'm told they don't re-date you, usually, at 20w unless its significantly different.
