Hi All!

Just wondering: when should I start giving Danica milk from the cup? She's been drinking water from it for 4 months now but I haven't tried giving her milk from it.

Thanks!

I'm breastfeeding - but need to get LO onto a cup before I go back to work when he's 9months old. I'm planning to skip introducing a bottle & go straight from breast to cup (expressed breastmilk) - which I'll start introducing soon.

As soon as baby is happy with the cup I'd say you can try milk in it.

Do you mean a beaker with a lid? We changed Austin's daytime bottles to beakers (we have a cow cup) at about Danica's age, then swapped over his last feed of the day to an Avent magic cup spout when he was 1.

He's still not got the hang of using a cup without a lid, we've got a doidy cup but he usually drenches himself and the carpet everytime he uses it so we stick to water in that!

My HV told me I should drop the bottles and dummies by his birthday - well 1 out of 2 isn't bad!

lol Oran is the same, i tried him with milk in it and he was loving it when I held it really proud he was drinking out of a cup so he of course wanted to try it, I let him and he poured it all over him self and cried and wouldnt go near it for a week as he got milk in his eye, everytime I got it out he ran and hid in the hall crying :rotfl:

He only has 1 bottle a day before bed and he has it in a bottle still  he will only drink milk from a bottle and I dont want him to not drink it or he wont get the correct calcium intake but if your LO will drink it out of a cup, I say the sooner the better - go for it, just keep trying it daily if she doesnt take to it at first (I need to follow my own advice  )

luke has bottles still too at just before bed and first thing in the morning cos like you jenny i want to ensure he drinks his milk at those times and i know he wouldn't be bothered with as much from a cup. i'm not fussed i know he can drink out of a cup cos he has his water from a cup so no big deal - rest assured he won't be going to school still on a bottle!!

Imms uses a cup but i havent tried mlk yet, i guess i dont sue it as a drink though yet. More of a food source stil. I just give water from the cup.
