Do you think it's safe to have a few drinks eg up to 4 (small) bottles of WKD the day after ovulation? Would it prevent fertilization or harm the embryo? I've got 2 night outs planned and they both could fall the day after I ovulate next week and at the end of December. I haven't been drinking since I started TTC and I hardly drank before, so do you think I would be stupid to take the risk or would you just go for it?

didnt want to read and run but to be honest, i wouldnt. I have a night out the day I am meant to be testing and I dont think I will even drink then. I havent drank since i have been ttc. I dont know if it would do any damage but I wouldnt feel right.

My DH keeps saying that people who dont know that they are pg will drink and it doesnt do them any harm but the fact I am trying makes me feel bad if I was to drink.

I am not saying that you shouldnt drink, just saying I wouldnt.

Good luck

xx

i certainly wouldnt get legless, definitely a good dance!

ive got a christmas party weekend in leeds the weekend i am due for AF (6th dec), im hoping i get my BFP before then so i know not to drink for sure! :D

Personally I wouldn't.

I really fancied a glass of wine on Friday but as I had a positive OPK I didn't.
I've also got OH's work do next Friday and I won't be drinking. I've just had a MC so maybe I am over cautious. If I did get my BFP I would feel guilty and worry if I'd had a few drinks.

Thanks girls. I was just trying to relax and try and carry on as normal like everyone here was telling me to before, lol, but seeing as I'm so desperate to get my BFP, I don't think I'll risk it.

Its hard hun  I think one or two would be fine as you are allowed that when you are pregnant.

Tbh I don't want to go next Friday as I know it will be a complete p1ss up. There nothing worse than being sober around really drunk people! And I've only meet a few of OH's work mates.
I am going to start testing as from Wednesday with some ultra early tests. If I get my BFP  I'm not going!

You do right, lol. I'm going on a pub crawl with my work mates at the end of December, so I'm gonna have to say I'm on antibiotics, cos no one knows I'm TTC.

TBH, what harm can it do? If the egg is lucky enough to be fertilzed the day after ovulation, which is quite a low chance that quick, having a couple of drinks surely couldn't do any harm can it? How many people do you know whose fallen PG on a drunken night out and regret it? (or watched on Jeremy Kyle show  ) I dont think a couple of drinks at your christmas party would be that bad hun.

I'm starting to maek a big fusss about the diet i'm on ( could do with lsoeing about 1stone anyway) so on any xams nights out i can get away with only having a couple of drinks

I got wrecked atleast twice before I found out I was pregnant, and the night I fell pregnant I was BATTERED not just on alcohol either - !!

I really dont know hun  just wanted to let you know what I got upto before I knew I was pregnant, and I went onto have a prefectly healthy little man :)

You see I personally carried on as normal.......I never went out and got totally legless, but then havent done that for years anyway (my days of clubbing etc are long over), but I did carry on drinking wine with dinner most nights, and having a beer or G&T if I fancied one during TTC.

I believe if the egg is going to stick its going to stick regardless of whether you decide to have a couple of drinks!

Life is most definitely for living, and lets face it, its doubtful you will drink for 9+ months once you fall pregnant (I have had the odd spritzer or low alcohol cider).

Its down to personal choice hun!!

Sorry to gatecrash buttt I was drunk pretty much every single weekend In June and July (well up until I found out I was pregnant) and it didnt stop me conceiving and I hadnt seen AF for months.... xx

Oh jeez, I don't know what to do. I don't drink that often and I can live without it, but I'm just thinking what everyone's gonna think if I'm not drinking. I don't want to make them suspicious. And I'm gonna feel guilty if I do drink. And then if I don't get a BFP, I'll be thinking 'was it cos I was drinking?' I don't know what to do.

Donna, I thought the sperm fertilized the egg as soon as it had reached it, about 6 hours after?

when i was ovulating i went out on my hen night  and well i got sloshed   and guess what i fell pregnant, i wouldn't worry about drinking just after oving :D
oh and remember how many srunken night bd's end up in a bfp? quite a few (that's what i was thinking cas i did feel guilty for drinking bit i rarly drink anyway  )

I would think it would do you more good than harm too!! We had an appointment at the fertility clinic and a pile of blood tests we were waiting for the results of so I started dieting and also had a couple of very nice nights out which involved more wine than was good for me :D as I didnt think we stood a chance until they sorted my cycle out and Bingo - BFP!!!

I know its an old wifes tale that drives people mad but relaxing does seem to help :D

I was advised by my doctor not to stop drinking between OV and AF - obviously I wasn't going mad but she thought keeping things normal and relaxing were much better. As far as I know, it takes about 10 days to implant after OV anyway, so the baby won't be plugged into your blood stream up until then.

Thanks girls. I have decided to go for it, lol. I guess it can't do any harm before it has implanted. However, if I'd already had a miscarriage I wouldn't risk it, so I can understand you girls who avoid it because of that.

I've changed my mind - I don't think I will drink after all, lol.
