Down's syndrome screening

So I opted for the Down's syndrome screening at my dating scan. They took the nuchal measurement and also took blood samples. Told me to expect the results within two weeks.

I've received them in the post today. It is literally a piece of discoloured paper that has been preprinted, with my first name written on by hand in blue ink... it says -

"Your results are low chance"

What the hell is this?! I was expecting the numbers to go with it.... like I did with my son, and like a lot of pregnant ladies I know still get now.

Think I'll have to call them to get my results... doesn't even say what they class as low risk, it's so subjective

Low risk (at my hospital anyway) is anything higher than 1:150.

But yeah I'd have expected a number??

This sounds extremely unprofessional!

I recently got mine through (I had my dating scan 2 weeks ago) and they said my chance was 1:50,000!

But it definitely had numbers on! Sounds like you're perfectly at very low risk (basically, not going to happen) but I would ring anyway.

The risk figure will be put in your notes at some point I'd imagine.

I got the letter today and it has the risk numbers written on it.

Mine was exactly the same which I thought was weird as with my son I'm sure it had numbers on it. I just figured low risk is low risk and certainly no one has suggested following up so I don't think the numbers would mean much to me anyway.

I'm in Scotland, don't know where you are but it might be a economising thing of certain trusts!

That's very strange!! Mine had the numbers on it when I received it in the post! Definitely call them though! Xx
