I know this might be a little too early, but I've decided I'm going to fully embrace the pregnancy thing and do all I can to research and prepare for the birth and subsequent parenthood.

But before I jump into anything, I just wanna know if anyone else here has any experience with doulas? What exactly do they do? If anyone of you have used doula services before, can you tell me what I can expect? What kind of services they provide?

I’ve not used one, but from what I gather, it’s someone who you choose to support and advocate for you, someone who can offer continuity of care.

Personally, with all the Covid restrictions and limits on birth partners, I’d rather have my partner with me than a doula, but I can understand why it’s important to some.

They’re there for emotional and practical support and for continuity.
I’m a fan (I trained as one before i became a midwife) but I agree that their presence at birth may well be compromised at the moment. you could choose to hire her antenatally and postnatally but not for birth
