I am curious about doulas. Are they worth the extra money? What do they provide that you won't normally get from your midwife or anyone else? I have read good things, but on doula websites, which of course will say they are great.

i did not have one but would be interested to hear what its like :D

ive only seen the show that used to be on sky about doulas, they seem good if u can afford them. i would love one.

I'm going to train as one when i have finished my degree in Homeopathy...I have a friend who is one is Aus but trained here....It an incredible service they offer, i would highly recommend one. :D

Can you tell me what they do? So far I have read they give you a long massage during labour and remind you to pee while you are pregnant. I know there is more to it than that, but I can't think of what they do apart from what a midwife can do.

They guide u through pregnancy and the birth, help u to make choices that suit u.

They are mediacally trained I don't think - only there to provide support and guidance.

My friend's friend is one - I'll ask her for some more info when I see her next

Found this: http://www.babycenter.com/0_doulas-shou ... ach_480.bc

If you google what is a doula u get loads of info
