Me and OH have been playing around with names for a while, but I don't want to decide until we know the sex.

The surname will be Mace, and a couple of the girl names we both like are Molly and Milly...

Would Molly Mace or Milly Mace sound daft? I do plan on having a middle name, but LO will be usually known by first name and surname only.

I personally think it typically sounds weird to have a first name and surname with the same initials.

It's a shame because I quite like some "B" first names :wall2: There are exceptions, but not many.

I don't like Milly/Molly Mace at all :oooo: Molly is slightly better than Milly though.

Maybe you'd consider Lily, Tilly, Polly, Penny, Jenny - they are very similar xx

I like the same initials, it rolls nicely off the tongue, how about Matilda Mace?

I dont really like same initials personally.
Milly and Molly are both lovely names but put with Mace they kind of sound like a cartoon character, iykwim.
Its personal choice though, if you like it...go for it!

Personally not a fan of matching initials (makes me think of characters in childrens books) but if you like it it doesn't matter what anyone thinks really :) xx

I don't mind matching initials, but the sounds has to be right. I was a JW and now i'm married I ended up a JJ, I'm a Jenni Jones and hubby is a Jack Jones!! Never caused us any problems in life tho, and can be kind of catchy, weve had a few people chuckle in our time.. but I'm not sure , none of my kids have a J name tho.... prob cause were bored with it tho...

Do like Milly tho

We are probably going for matching initials, I like Molly too (I had a dream we had a girl called Molly and I can't get it out of my head ever!) and DH's surname is Marsh (baby is having his name cos I haven't changed mine cos of work). I was worried but if you get a right combo of names I think its fine!

I LOVE both Milly and Molly as first names, but I'm not sure about them with Mace.

I think Matilda Mace as someone else has suggested is lovely though - I think matching initials are fine, but they have to sound ok and I don't think Milly Mace sounds great, but you could shorten Matilda to Tilly and that sounds ok with Mace?

xxx

I also have a double initial now I'm married (KK) and I love it, I do sound a little bit like a superhero or cartoon character but loads of people say they like it. I prefer it to my maiden name.

I'm not a fan of Molly or Milly to be honest, although Molly sounds better with Mace imo.

What about Lily? Or as Louise suggested Polly or Jenny? I also like Gemma/Jenna/Evelyn but that's just me :-) Good luck choosing xxx

Our baby will have matching initials, she will be a SS just like her Daddy.

I do think they have to go with each other just like any other name does.

I don't see a prob with double initials - I have two friends with doubles one JJ and one KK (nee KC).

If G had been a boy she'd have been Matthew Maclean.
Xxx

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(

I've been told by the MIL that people with the same initials are more likely to go on to be famous! How true that it I don't know but I think it's nice but do have to agree that they must go together xx

My Nephew is called Harvey Hughes .... great name in my opinion :)

I prefer Molly Mace to Milly Mace hun x

Thanks for the input guys! The more I think about it the more I dislike Molly or Milly with Mace! I love the names, but I just don't think they go with our surname.

I'm really not a fan of Matilda, Lily is lovely, but my niece is called Lilia, so thats a no no!

I actually really like Isobel, but OH is taking some convincing!

Love the name Isobel! Goes with mace too. Men can be more fickle than us ladies sometimes eh! Xxx

I think Isobel sounds lovely, and goes well with your last name! xx

Isobel goes very nicely as it's a longer sounding name and your surname is short , keep working on oh!

I think the names Milly and Molly are lovely but I think Milly Mace sounds a bit like Minnie Mouse!

Isobel Mace sounds lovely. Isobel is a really pretty name that will grow well.

I mentioned Isobel again this morning and he seems to be warming to it!!

Now I just need my 20 week scan to show I'm having a boy lol!!

I do think double initials are a bit hard to say sometimes... I don't like Molly or Milly with Mace. But you might find an M name that suits it!
If I get married to my OH I'll be LL... It sounds weird. But guess these things happen :)
My Auntie has a very unfortunate name.
Pre marriage she was called Iona Bell ( I own a bell) and then got married and is now called Iona Wardrope (I own a wardrobe) shame.., but these things happen xxx
