Hello well i should be in tri 2 now but havent yet made a post had bit of bleeding early on and convinced myself it was m/c as i had 1 back in nov 06 but however when i got my scan at 11 wks+4 baby was fine and jumping around and was so happy.

Now im starting to get paranoid again because i thought that m/c was reduced loads once seeing the heartbbeat but then read bexter's story in tri 1 and realised thats not the case and also i am 13+4 now and i still have no sign at all of a bump ! I didnt really show my my last 2 kids till later but just thought that there would be something there now although i do have a bit of a belly on me from having the previous 2,anyway im rambling on what do you think about dopplers are they good or do they make you worry more ??

I have a doppler which i brought when i was pregnant with my little boy, i brought it from ebay its the one like your MW uses and i have been able to hear the heartbeat from 9 weeks last time and this time round, i think they ar a good idea as if i ever have a moment i think something is wrong which i have had a few this time round as baby is not very active and my little boy was, i grab the doppler and listern to the heartbeat and it puts my mind at rest :D I guess though they could make you panic if you can not find the heartbeat which has never happened to me, a couple of times it took my hubby a bit of looking about as baby was hiding but we always found it.... It's a great device to have and we listern every weekend :cheer:

Hi - first of all congratulations and welcome to Tri 2! I've had a mc before too and know that it's very hard to believe that everything is going to be ok next time around but you've made it to 13 + 4 so that's really good, and you've also saw a lovely heartbeat too.

I had some bleeding earlier on and was convinced I'd lost the baby but everything was ok. I got a doppler from my mum (she works for NHS) and used that to check the heartbeat. I was always able to find it (luckily) from about 12-13 weeks but last week it took about 25 mins and I was really worried, so I can understand when people say that it can make you anxious because sometimes, depending on where baby is lying you won't be able to get a heartbeat.

I think I've rabbled on a bit there, and probably given you no help whatsover, but what I really mean to say is that you would need to understand that if you can't hear it straight away then it's not necessarily a bad thing.

I started getting a bump at round about 13 weeks, but I was (and probably won't ever be again) really slim so I think that's why it was noticeable so quick. Everyone's body is different so try not to worry about that too.

Oh my god, look how much I've typed - you can tell I love to talk!

i dont have a doppler but i got a prenatal heart listener. mine dont work till bout 21weeks depends size of u. it worked from me from about 23weeks.anyway i think they give u peace of mind if babys ok as in heartbeat :)

when i miscarried i had severe bleeding had to se always pad, was a heavy heavy period like and then i dunno when i got it put i got vwery bad pains , which was too horrible to handle hurt like mad.if u still bleeding i suggest u see a midwide or go hosp :)

i think it's only a good idea if you buy one like prev post said, one that your midwife would use. I got one from argos and i still can't find heartbeat and i'm 23 weeks. Luckily I've seen midwife a bit lately so i know my baby is ok but i'm sure if i hadn't had those visits i'd be more worried than ever

hi i bought the angelsounds doppler from ebay for £30 and i heard baby from 12 weeks just before i had my scan which was a relief. you can also hear baby swishing around and thumping you lol. if you google fetal heart sounds a website can be found that gives you examples of what you are hearing also so you know if you have found heartbeat etc. i would recommend getting one and i listen to mine once a week just for reassurance its great. xxx

I bought the same one on ebay for about the same price (can't remember exactly) anyway it's great detected little one's heartbeat from around 9 weeks actually despite it saying 11+ on the box. The thing you have to remember with them although they are really reassuring once you do find the beat and can hear it daily etc is that some dopplers work later on, so you might buy one that doesnt detect till say 15 or 20 weeks - crazy when you can get them for around the 10 weeks. Anyway they are great for reassurance and I love mine heaps but don't fret if you get one and can't hear anything yet it's still early days!

Oh and there is a big difference between listening to what's called the placental flow (i.e. mummy's placenta) and what is actually baby's heartbeat.
