donating

while im thinking on a breastfeeding point i was curious as to how many ppl have thought of donating breast milk when they give birth for the special care baby unit? i saw a poster in my hospital about it when i had an appointment there and my mum mentioned that shed done it and i think its a really brill idea to help the poorly little babies at the hospital.

I plan to do this if I can, do you know that otherwise they have to pay for breast milk?? I cannot believe that!! Hopefully I will be fortunate enough not to need to use their services but I think that we need to support them!!

My youngest was born at 30 weeks and i was so poorly for about a week i couldnt express any milk for him but i knew breast milk was the best so used donated milk for him until i could express myself, i was so greatful to the amazing women who donated there milk so i plan on doing it this time if i can to help some one else xx

When I had my dd and breast feeding was established I donated my milk. You have bloods done to check you are clear of everything first. Once they are ok you get supplied with sterile bottles and labels. My freezer was full Of expressed milk lol just kept ringing them to come collect it. X

i think its a great idea!! my sisters baby was born at 28 weeks and they encouraged bf to give him the best start, but my sisters body didnt produce hardly anything which they said is quite common in women who have had prem babys so they used donated milk, which he thrived on and 14 years later he is quite the teenager lol xx

i think anyone who can donate to the hosp to help these babys and moms out are fantastic

wow - after a quick google it appears there is only ONE milk bank in the whole of Scotland - in glasgow - that is absolutely shocking!!!

Will definitely do this if I can, I'll be getting my monies worth out of my expressing machine lol
I didn't know they would come and collect though xx
