Dogs and a home birth?

I was going to hijack the other doggy thread but thought I'd just do another since this is a bit different. Anyone any had a home birth with dogs or pets still around? My friend said I should maybe put her in kennels but I'm thinking she could feel pushed out when we bring her home and suddenly there's a baby here, I don't want to confuse her. I also wonder how she will be when I'm in labour, she's always very concerned even when I cry or one of us hurts ourselves but as you other animal lovers know stroking your pet really calms and relaxes you. Obviously I don't want her in the room as baby is born, not sure hairs and dog slobber would be very hygienic!
