Zachary is 2 on the 7th January, and ive explained to him about Santa and Christmas, not in huge depth, but ive said he is coming and that he will be bringing him lots of presents!

However....I dont think he understands :(

Just wanted to compare...do any of your 2 year olds or LO's around that age, understand and are excited about christmas, or are they all pretty much still not understanding??

My LO is only 16.5 months, but she hasn't got a scooby. She can point out Santa in a book and say 'Sanga' and point to the Christmas tree and say 'twee', but that's it. She doesn't have a clue.

My MIL however somehow expects her to be fully understanding Santa comes down a chimney with presents, the Nativity story, the words to 'Jingle Bells' etc etc - silly, silly lady.

lukes excited and he loves all the "pretty lights" and "father christmas" hes seen all the presents under the tree but hasn't looked to open them. i don't think he really understands, we took him to see santa and he balled his eyes out but i think he knew santa gives him things and presents but he has limited understanding, they will more up for it next year won't they.

its still a very special time though.

Yeah Zac loves the lights!!!! And always points to the tree, and he was excitable when he saw Santa tonight....but hasnt paid any attention to the presents under the tree.

Its reassuring to think Luke has limited understanding too, Zachary knows something is going on but not sure what!

My nephew is 2 and a half and I don't think he understands the whole concept of christmas and tbh I wouldn't expect him to yet.

He decorated the tree though ;)

Tom's oblivious! He loves the lights and the trees but that's it.
I think next year they'll have a better understanding of what's going on!

Our boys are so similar aint they Luce

Aaron didn't have a clue last year! This year though he fully understands it all and is really excited! It's amazing how much they learn in a year.

Austin's a bit younger but hasn't really got a clue. He enjoyed decorating the tree & helping wrap presents but he's too young to undrestand Santa etc. Next year will be fun though! :D

Same here he recognises Santa from pictures too but doesn't realise who he is or anything like that!

Jam recognises the tree, santa and presents   but not the whole meaning of xmas shebang
at 2 i didnt expect him to understand tho, maybe next yr :D

Dan will be 2 on the 3rd of Jan and he has no idea!
We took him to see Santa and he cried. He is interested in the tree and presents but everything is interesting to Dan!
He will enjoy opening the presents as he likes to unwrap and play with things, but he does not understand the concept. I am sure next year will be different though :D

Im glad all of yours seem to be the same!

As you say, next year is going to be very interesting and a lot of fun when they properly understand.

Still be fun this year, cant wait to see my little prince playing with all his toys :D :D :D

alice will point at the tree and say christmas. She will point at santa if he is on the tv and say christmas. She will point to the top of my wardrobe where she knows where the bulk of her gifts are and scream "MINE!"

off topic slightly, I swear she thinks my belly is called baby - she hasn't sussed there is a baby in there :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I know EXACTLY what you mean Sam....Zachary points to my tummy and says 'Baby' but I think he just thinks thats the name of my tummy!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

They will be slightly shocked when the babies are born wont they

Lydia is 3 and a quarter, and she gets it this year yes (although she got a BIT confused when she thought that santa was coming round to eat Christmas dinner with us)

Last year she understood only a tiny bit.

Alex is 16 months and had no clue whatsoever what was going on today.

Obviously Ryan didnt have the foggyest what was going on this year but i nanny for a little boy who is 2 in a couple of months and he didnt really understand AT ALL, i think they understand there getting presents and can open them themselves which must be nice! but i dont think he understood why he was getting them lol
