Im expecting my second child in November, at which point my son will be 2 and a half, i have brought a buggy board. Do you think he will be too young to stand on it?

My other option is to carry the new baby around in a baby sling until my son is old enough to stand on the buggy board.

Help, has anyone been in this dilemma before? i just dont want to waste money on buying a double buggy for my son to not be in it long.

Please Help

Natalie

I thunk it depends on how you feel about carrying baby and how often you use your buggy. If you walk for long distances perhaps a double buggy would be best?? My daughter was 26 months when Cally was born, and I have never had a double buggy as I prefer to sling Cally, and have never found it a problem, if we were on a long long walk then Seren would be in the buggy but she just prefers to walk so rarely goes in a buggy. Seren would have stood on a buggy board fine if I had needed to get one but TBH it never has been a problem.

My middle daughter was 2 years 7 months when my youngest was born and I refused to get a double buggy. Most of the time, Roxy went in the pram and the older ones walked. I did get a buggy board but I didn't like pushing with it as I couldn't get close to the buggy and walked with my bum out

When I was walking to the shops (about 20 min there away), I'd sling Roxy and put Molly in the stroller so she could have a sleep or a rest if she wanted. I think if your older one is not a great walker or you don't get on with a sling then it's def worth getting a second hand stroller. I wouldn't pay out for an expensive one though.

The other thing is that I would have hated to put a newborn in a forwards facing buggy. I am looking for a good rear facing double buggy at the moment as there will only be 18 months between Roxy and my new one so I'll have to give in this time!

Thanks so much for the replies, they have been very helpful. :D Its good to hear other peoples experiences who have been in that situation.

Im glad you wrote this topic im having the same dillema my son Taylor will be 2 and a half and i dont want a double buggy x x

lol how weird, my son is named taylor too and is going to be 2 and a half when baby arrives x

I haven't needed my double buggy fro a few months now, pretty much stopped using it when Aimee turned 2 and a half.

at 2 and a half no I don't think you'll need a double buggy.

There's 22 months between my kids, so at first I did use a double buggy, but I stopped using it when Lydia was around 2 and a half.

Personally I've not felt I've needed or missed one, and Isaac's 15months+ so I'd say at 2&ahalf no, but it depends on your lifestyle, and you could always get a cheap one just in case and see how you go? I've posted in your sling thread about the babywearing aspect too, very best wishes

In my honest opinion i think yes you do, i would go for a 2nd hand one that folds up small just for the time when you are out and you toddler gets tired, i know there are time when i had 3 children under 3yrs and the eldest would be so tired sometimes he would try to kick one of the others out of the buggy for a lift, i know it isnt often but there maybe time when you want a day out somewhere and he just finds it a little too much.

My LO will be 20 months when the new baby comes, I'm going to hold off buying a double buggy until I know I'll definitely need one. I'm hoping to sling the new baby a lot of the time, and have been looking into getting a toddler seat that sits on top of the pram for if we're out & Austin gets tired. I think the idea of a buggy board is good but the only time Austin would need to use it would be if he was tired, in which case he probably wouldn't behave standing up - hence the toddler seat (they're a lot cheaper too).

So haven't really answered your question  :) sorry!

I will have 18 months between mine and was planning on a seat over the carrycot for charlotte, combined with just using a sling for the baby with C in the pushchair. Not sure what I will do when the baby out grows the carrygot though, as C will only be about 23 months, and the pushchair won't take a buggyboard. I have a rear facing pram but the only double rear facing one's I've seen are really expensive.

I'm in the same situation. My daughter will be 22 months when the new baby arrives. I plan on keeping the baby in a papoose up to about 6 months or until they are too heavy and then having a buggy board for my daughter to stand on. I'm hoping this will work as I don't really want to buy a double buggy.
