Ahhhh so frustrating, both me and my husband have picked completely different names and neither of us want to give in!! We both like each others but LOVE our own!

He likes cooper joseph. Joseph is his dads name and he just loves cooper. I really like it but I LOVE

Tommy Arthur. I've loved tommy for ages, both our grandads are /were called Arthur and its his dads middle name.

What do u do in our situation?? I don't want to disappoint my husband, but for our first baby I don't want to settle for second best either. Also my husband pointed out we could use both if we have another son in the future but it would have to be cooper first then tommy, not the other way round because there was a comedian called tommy cooper.

Also my grandad is 91 and I'd love to see his reaction to our baby having his name... If we waited for a 2nd (not guaranteed ) son, it might be too late...

Me and my husband disagree on names too! I'm hoping I can talk him round before the birth but I doubt it! I did say to him though that we should have a short list of 3 names and pick when the baby is born as he may really suit one. Have you told him your reasons for your chosen name? I love the fact that it would make your grandad happy.

Yeah he knows the reasons but thinks you can't choose a name based on someone's reaction... I suppose that's true but I really do love the name! Xx

Aw I wouldn't say you are picking the name base on a reaction, you are picking it cos it is sentimental and it means something to you... in turn it would also mean something to your granddad and I think that's wonderful.

Don't really know what to suggest, we have an agreement not to name after any family members.

I'd wait and see what baby looks like. He might arrive and look nothing like one of the names.
That's what we did with our son, we just knew he was Leo when he arrived not Zac

My OH wasn't overly keen on Rosie for our daughter, but I had known for such a long time if I ever had a little girl that's what her name would be :)

My mum gave me some good advice - just leave it! Don't discuss again til after baby's here! Your OH will see what you have to go through and will give you anything you want!

Low and behold - when out little lady popped out, the first thing my OH said to her was 'hello Rosie' xx

My oh has let me pick names both times! I must be lucky lol

If you like Cooper, then why not compromise with Cooper Arthur? it's not like you'll be using the middle name on a daily basis, and this way his dad/grandads are all flattered.

Joseph arthur is nice
if youre keen on naming after people id do it first as no guarantee of another son
I like cooper best
So Cooper Joseph Arthur would be nice
im not keen on Tommy I prefer Thomas
I just think Tommy Tippee lol

i like tommy but i would call it thomas and shorten it to tommy personally.

I love Arthur Joseph as a name, or Joseph Arthur!
I do like Cooper too and would definitely use Thomas and shorten.

Thanks for all the replies! I don't want to call him Joseph Arthur (as nice as it is) as its my father in laws name! I don't mind using his name for my babies middle name but not the whole thing.

Tommy Arthur is just stuck in my head and can't get it out! I do like cooper Joseph, but worried about people thinking its a bit of a weird name xxx
