Different maternity leave for different jobs?

I teach in 2 different schools, with different employers.

At one I am mostly in the same classroom and there are seats that I can sit on to be beside the pupils to help them or see how they are doing as there is enough space in the classroom.

At the other I have to go from classroom to classroom (maximum 1 hour in a classroom) over 2 buildings and three long flights of stairs in each. I have to carry round anything I will need for my lessons. The classrooms are packed so although the school has provided tall, supportive chairs for me, if I want to go round the pupils at all I have to walk round and lean over.

I have pelvic girdle pain and it is getting increasingly worse. I left it until I can hardly walk before doing anything about it :wall: so I have an appointment with the doctor on Monday.

What I want to know is, can I start maternity leave at different times for different jobs? I can't keep carrying things round and going up and down stairs, it is too painful. But I could keep on at the other school.

Alternatively, does anyone know if I can get a sick line for one school and still go to the other?

I love working at both schools. I really enjoy working at the school with stairs and carrying things - it's lots of fun and the people there (staff and children) are wonderful. But in the last 2 weeks my pain has increased so that I can't sit for long, stand for long or sleep that well!

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

Is there no way you could stay based in one classroom and the children come to you?
I'd talk to the head, as your work becomes unsuitable for you they are obliged to make allowances and change your job.

Not sure if you can start at 2 different times though

There really are no classrooms I could use. It's a primary school and I teach French so I go to their classes normally.
I've got the doctor on Monday so depending on what he says I may tell school I can't go round any more. I asked for somewhere suitable to work when I'm not teaching 14 weeks ago and given that I only have 6 and a half weeks before I go on maternity leave I doubt they are going to get their act together in time  They are very supportive but they just don't have the space.

How is your maternity leave paid? Do your employers pay you a certain amount as well as the Statutory?

You will only get one lot of statutory no matter how many jobs you have!

I agree with Urchin, they may have to change their working practice at the job you are finding difficult to cope with.

My employers pay me more maternity pay so it'll be fun trying to sort that out too.
