Was going to compile a playlist of music to help me through labour. Just looking for ideas. Not sure whether to go for favourite tunes or really relaxing spa stuff. I'm not into any hypnotic stuff, each to their own but it's just not for me. Did you do this too? What worked best? :)

Am just starting to think about music to bring with me to hospital too!
Was thinking of getting some sounds of the sea or something to help with breathing in time with the waves.
Was also going to bring along songs I like that are more chilled. Was thinking along the lines of Mumford and Sons, that sort of thing. Not sure yet.
Will be interested to see if anyone's got any experience they want to share. When I've been looking round the hospitals they've said that people bring all sorts with them, from classical music to Metallica.

Yes, my soundtrack was the sound of me screaming "yes, I know I said no pethidine in my birth plan BUT I LIED!!! GIVE ME SOME NOW!!" Lol. I never did get any... I had done a playlist but I ended up with a very quick labour for a first baby and all my hospital bags were in the car - I only had my handbag and my notes!!! I would recommend songs you like to sing along to as I think singing along might have been a good distraction from the pain.

They had the radio on whilst I was having my C-Section and just as she was born Michael Jackson's Beat It came on lol

I just had my normal music playing (mostly metal/rock). I'm gutted we didn't pay attention to the song she was born too though.

Ive started putting music on my inpod, quite mellow songs and things I realky like, im especially liking hurts their album is very relaxing I think

Personally i didnt use music but if i did i couldnt cope with nature sounds etc it would just make me think more about the pain i would need something to distract me with lyrics.

I hadn't thought about it before good question is it good to put music I know baby normally kicks n gets excited to? Or better to have something a bit calmer hmm. Also how many songs would u need n when do you start playing them I'm so naive I never thought about music before but it does make sense! Know I couldn't cope with nature music or classical it wud drive me potty x

As I'm planning a water birth, I can think of nothing better than having music too. I love having a candle lit bath with relaxing music so this is my ideal! Dim lighting and relaxing spiritual and spa music! I've downloaded a few albums to see me through it.

I set up my iPod to play but actually it was so calmed and chilled I didn't want music on! I think it would of irritated me I'm constantly skipping through songs and never listen to a song the whole way through lol!

That did make me laugh :-) x

I had Ludovico Einaudi playing for the first part although I don't remember much about it now. I know DH got fed up with it a few hours in and I was labouring through the night which didn't help. I was too busy focusing on my breathing and hypnobirthing techniques. Then came the G&A and everything goes pleasantly fuzzy! xx
