I always imagine it'd feel like those wierd tummy exercise pad thingys?

I never took to that shock feeling so wasn't gonna bother.

Might change my mind if anyone can shed any light?? :)

I used tens!!!!
Erm, i benefitted from mine i think alot of it depends on who you are what your like and of corse which machine you have hired / bought!
I didnt use it late on though i got in my pool and when i got out i simply forgot to put it back on! But i found mine useful til i forgot about it!
I only needed gas and air so maybe i have a high pain threshhold??
Who knows, !!

good luck ladies!

thats another thing.... are some stronger than others? i've been looking at hiring one. There's lots out there... lady tens, femme tens, elle tens... what one did you use?

x

HAHA none of the above, its called mamatens
i found it really strong, it has 15 levels i only got up to level 8 whilst labourin when i was usin it!!

I have just bought one - though obviously I haven't used it yet. I was going to hire one but that was coming up at around £30 and Boots.com are selling the Femme TENS one for £49.99 - with 600 extra points which is equivalent to £6 off. When I added it to my basket it gave me 1199 points in total (effectively £11.99 of the price) I don't know if that is because I joined the boots baby club thing? Anyway decided that I would rather buy it and be able to use it again or sell it afterwards if we didn't find it effective.

yes i bought mine aswell, from the baby show that was in birmingham nec 19 may.
Like you said so you can use it again.
These things are not only good for labour pains but back ache and other aches and pains!

I bought mine from Boots & it did work to begin with & I thought it was really good but I was put on a drip to speed things up so my contractions were coming thick & fast & extremely painful so I didn't benefit from it then.

I would defo use it again.

defo, benefited from it. Didn't need any other pain relief, just tens and controlled breathing!

Sorry if this is a stupid question but whats the difference between all the different tens. The mamatens and the femme tens for example?? :?

I hired a TENS machine.
Then when I went into hospital to be induced I was contracting for 3 days but with no dilating, so I used it during the last day before they broke my waters - I did find it KINDA helpful but not fantastic. Still it was definitely better than nothing.

I've been meaning to ask - when can you start using Tens from? Would it benefit my back now???

My friend bought one for her labour and has offered to lend me it for my back pain, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to use it. :?

Erm, your not supposed to start using them onur back til your at least 27 weeks, in case it can trigger a certain something, Lol
Some people have said that they can b used to induce, so therfor 37 weeks really is the earliest you should use it.
Good luck!

the first weeks shud have read 37weeks not 27 weeks, sorry for any confusion was buzy feedin lil man at the time!!

I used Tens, rented it form tesco, was great! stayed at home till I was 6 cm dilated, sitting on my gym ball! I never used all the different speeds, and they say the earlier you use it the more efficient it is! (once your contractions have started), because it sends messages to your brain, and it needs some time to decode them...
From what I understood, it's supposed to create some small pain through the electrode so that your brain reacts to it, and closes the "gates" for the stronger pain, like contraction...if that make sense!?
not sure I've been clear! :?

Mel xx

YEAH mel, that makes sense, im sure the ladies who were inquizative will understand tht, i did !!
