thought I would get this set up now as I have had on/off contractions all weekend and tomorrow I go into hospital to be induced at 38 weeks.

A bit of background! This is my third pregnancy after a 13 year gap and at (just) 42 it was a huge shock! I have two children age 15 and 13 a girl and a boy and this one is a boy.

I am being induced early because of gestational diabetes but also because I have a history of big babies, and my age.

I have to admit I am cr*pping myself at what is to come, I worry that my body will not cope with labour that my age will go against me etc. so hopefully this thread might help me take one bit at a time. But I do have the advantage that my body has done it twice already.

So I will add bits to this thread over the next few days when I can :)

Ah loving labour threads!

As you said, you have done this twice, I think it's a huge advantage! Plus you will probably not need much in terms of induction as you are quite ready anyway. Hopefully it will all go easy tomorrow!

Are you ready for the baby? All washed and packed etc? X

And what are you going to do today? Any special arrangements to celebrate the pre-baby day? :)

If you're already having contractions, do lots of walking about today to hopefully help things along! Good luck for tomorrow!

I also have large babies, first was nine pounds and every one is telling me this one will be bigger!

Good luck demaris. All sounds like your body will be ready for it. X

Well that's the kids packed off to my dads! It's been an emotional day with the kids being the least stressed lol. Husband has been doing man things like checking the car for water, oil etc then checking again bless him. I've still been having on/off tightenings, not painful but enough to make me stop what I am doing. Hopefully when I go in tomorrow they will say I'm gearing up for labour at least.

We plan to leave at 6am (it's an hour away) even though my app isn't until 9:30 but Plymouth can be nightmare in rush hour so we plan to have a nice breakfast before we go onto day assessment.

I haven't really written a birth plan as I will be hooked up to insulin so not much scope for jumping into pools or doing gymnastics throughout. What will be will be :)

They not gonna stop your insulin? All my meds were stopped as soon as the induction was started x

Good luck Demaris!! Will be stalking this thread tomorrow. Hope all goes well xxx

Good luck for tomorrow Demaris! I hope all your discomfort for the last few days makes things easier for you tomorrow :) xx

It's confusing tbh the consultant said I'd need a sliding scale of insulin during established labour and to be stopped after delivery. Yet my community midwife said I wouldn't need it because I am on less than 25 whotsits of insulin a day (2 morning, 4 and 4 dinner and tea and 8 slow release over night). So I am going to question it tomorrow :) xx

You must be on the way now :) how exciting! Will be thinking of you and sending you positive baby vibes x

Thank you everyone :) now waiting in the room for the pessary to go in, doing a crossword with the hubby xx
