On ebay or just in general? It's great but you do pay a percentage to PayPal when you receive money unless it's marked as a gift by the buyer which you're not allowed to do if selling on ebay.
You need a bank account to set it up as far as I remember and if you want to use it to buy as well adding a credit card (if you have one) is a good idea as it gives you some extra protection as a buyer.

Definitely try here first. Between the cost of listing, final value fees (basically they take a small percentage of whatever your item makes) and paypal fees, I don't find ebay very useful for selling kids' clothes.
