Went to the hospital this morning to see the consultant (didn't actually even see the man himself, just a registrar) and to cut a long story short i'm getting induced on Saturday.

Not really sure how i feel, it's what i wanted i suppose but i'm in a state of shock at the thought of baby being here by the end of the week. Also pretty nervous about the induction process so if anyone has any reassuring stories feel free to throw them my way lol xx

I haven't got any stories to share, but just want to say good luck, I'm sure you will be fine. I've read some really positive stories about inductions so try not to worry. Just think soon you will have your baby in your arms :)

You'll be fine hunny and how fab to have your baby by the end of the weekend :D. Just make sure you rest lots this week and preserve your energy, pamper yourself as much as you can you have a busy time ahead. (But don't have your nails done cos if they have to monitor your oxygen levels they wipe off varnish or remove falsies so it's a waste of money).

You could take some evening primrose oil if you aren't already, it helps soften the cervix for dilation.

Eeeep so exciting :D xxxxxxxxxxx

I'm also in shock hun as I went for what I thought was just a growth scan yesterday, and am going in to be induced on Thursday!!!
How come you're being induced honey? My reason is because babe / belly not grown in over a week (measuring 33cms) so they think the placenta might not be functioning right anymore and want to get her out!
I've done abit of research on the internet and there are some horror stories out there, but also some really positive ones! A guy at work's Mrs was induced last Friday and had her baby Saturday afternoon, after being in established labour for 5.5 hours!!! I'll have abit o that!!! And hopefully you will too!
I'm 39 weeks today by the way.... and also sh1tting myself!!!
Its outta our hands now though hun and just think we'll have our bubs by the end of weekend!!! yey!! Kimx

Thanks ladies. Will definitely be pampering myself this week and getting prepared. That's the bonus i suppose. Will go and do a tesco big shop at some point otherwise i dread to think what OH will buy while i'm incarcerated haha.

Kim, i'm being induced because i've had a few dodgy blood results that indicate i have a liver condition (obsteric cholestasis). It hasn't really affected me massively other than having some horrendous itching on my arms, legs and bump. But at one stage they thought that it could slightly up the risk of a stillbirth and they tend to like to get babys out quicker for their sake and the wellbeing of the mother. It only occurs during pregnancy so once he's out then i should go back to normal. I hope yours goes well. It really is scary and it certainly wasn't how i thought things would happen, especially because this has only really all blown up in the last week or so.

But...we soldier on! At least i can go into hospital with clean hair and make up on (won't last long of course).

BB how are your pains today? xx

Spd pain is a lot better thanks hun, just want these little contractions to get going now :D xxxxxxxx

Well all the best luv - though I expect I'll converse with you again before the end of the week - see how you feel etc! Hopefully I'll beable to tell you my positive induction experience before you go on Saturday!!
And yes, look on the bright side, at least we can go in half prepared, showered and shaved etc!
Keep busy to take your mind off it and try not to worry x

I was induced with my 2nd baby due to poor growth, i was at 40 weeks. I had a pessary put in at 10am as my cervix was tightly closed! Nothing much was happening, so they put another one in at 4/5pm and i got contractions almost straight away! I was then moved to the labour ward and all was progressing nicely. My waters broke on their own at about 10pm, and Sam was born at midnight on the dot! So from my first contraction labour lasted 7-8 hours! The pushing stage only lasted 15mins, it was pretty intense pushing tho, didnt let me have a break! But im not sure if that was to do with being induced or not. It was no more painful than my labour that started naturally with my first :) Good luck and hope its nice and quick for you xx

Thats reassuring!!! Many thanks Emily!
I hope ours works as swiftly as yours did!!

See, that's what i like to hear lol. My SIL was induced with her second child and she gave birth in just under 2 hours! But another girl i know had to be induced 4 times and was in hospital for 8 days before baby finally made an appearance. Guess it's different for everyone. Fingers crossed we both have an easy one xxx
