Emily has to have at least 3 hours during the day or by bath time she is very grumpy!!! I'm wondering if I should be putting her in her cot?? She is sooooooo good at night time I don't want to confused her by putting her there during the day too?? What I sometimes do is put her in her pram in the kitchen where it's darkish and she will easily sleep for a few hours. If she is in my arms I'm lucky to get an hour ( and can't get anything done!). What does everyone else do? Do you gave a set routine for the day? I like her to just be able to have fun in the day and sleep when she wants!?!

I did let her sleep whenever she needed it. But now I want her to know when her naps are and Im putting her in her cot (as of today). If she sleeps well in the pram though...stick with it :)

I always put Cahal in his cot, he seems to know that the cot is where he sleeps although he will always nod off in my arms before we get there lol!

I agree with Inky - if you put them in their cot they know its for sleeping and will drift off easily. Sarah mosses basket ony lasted a few weeks as she prefered her cor - i make sure there are things for her to ook at in there and she drifts off talking to her bumper!

yeah me too madison goes to her cot also less chance of disturbances eg phone bloody ringing lol!! she gets up 10/11 sleeps bout 12 for 2/3 hours and then sleep at bout 5/6 for an hour or two and back in bed bout 9! so she sleeps loads lol xx

I have to put Ross into his cot for naps as there's nowhere else really to put him down on his tummy safely downstairs (the dog would just trample over him). He's really starting to fight sleep now so will sometimes fall asleep in my arms but not every time. It also makes it really difficult for us when we're out as he doesn't get nearly half as much sleep as he'd like.
I would suggest keeping the curtains/blind open (obv not in the very bright sun) so that Emily know it's a nap and not night, then when night time comes she's got that cue that the room's dark.
At home Ross gets up at around 9am, goes down for a nap at 10.30-12, then 3pm-5pm, 7pm-8pm then bed at 10. Erm, looks like he sleeps loads! I just let him nap when he needs it and only wake him up if I really need to, he kind of makes his own routine. Sometimes he needs more, sometimes less. I try not to keep the house too quiet though so he's used to the noise when we're out too!
Sorry, huge novel there!

^^^me too with 3 others Sarah has to be disturbed quite alot and today she had a nap for over 2 hours which is not normal then she was just dropping off when we went swimming. We swam for nearly an hour and then she nodded whilst i changed and when we got home she fed and went down for the night over an hour earlier! She woke up early at 9.30pm for a top up and went straight back down. They are so young - routine is great but i do feel it should be babe led as long as they are not keeping you up all night x

Thanks girls. I have put her in her pram for the last 3 days at the same time. She cries for a few mins then just goes to sleep for a few hours! I probably will start putting her in her cot though. I agree with keeping it light during her daytime naps as she needs to know the difference between night and day x
