Was on BBC3 and is online on http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer
if you want a watch. I warn you it is graphic!

I hadn't before seen anyone in labour/giving birth (I've avoided it) but i thought i should watch it.

I was in tears, some were of awww magic a baby and some were of 'there is no way i can do this'
I was hoping to find it useful and calming but it seems to have done the opposite, despite the fact the program is really good!

Did anyone else watch it?

Yes I watched it

OMG why did I?
I know what it is like I've done it before but it managed to make me feel paniky that in a few weeks I've got to do what those women did.
The best bit was seeing how as soon as the ladies had given birth they were happy and smiling after being in pain and had forgotten immediately about it.

That Dawn did my head in though I couldn't have been doing with her there when I gave birth.

I watched it too.

I thought it was great towards the end when they actually showed the births... but I wanted to slap the girl presenting it. She's the same age as me and so silly!

I just watched it from the link, i cried my eyes out. I am soooooo scared but kind of looking forward to it too. Good for them having cameras there there's no way i would have said yes!

Its such a wonderful thing to see and lovely to see Dawns opinion changed.

I have to say though she is very immature!!! :rotfl:

I am glad i have seen a ventouse now and forceps i feel much less worried about that prospect. :cheer: Its good to know what they are and how they work.

I watched it too... that Dawn is a strange girl tho!! She had another show where she tried to be a lesbian going from one extreame to another!

I sky+ it last night but haven't had chance to watch it, dunno whether I want to now :?

I caught it by accident part way through and WHY OH WHY did I think it would be a good diea to watch it. I spent all night having graphic birthing nightmares and my OH hasn't spoken since, he's still in shock.

The timing was funny because at antenatal literally just the night before we'd been passing round the instruments of torture (Ventouse Cap etc) and been shown how they all worked.

The birth looked awful. I was so emotional when the second lady delivered her baby; I was a mess! The way she just went "Oh my God it's a baby! Look what we made!" like she'd never been in any pain at all. It was very moving.

Just watched it from the link!

I have watched a million baby programmes but this one has to be one the most graphic and in detail ones! I did cry when the babies were born, but was also in total shock about the whole pain thing - I was adamant that I wanted a natural birth I now reckon I will be screaming for an epidural!!

After I had Arianna, they sent me for my shower and I came back and told Brian I wanted to make her a brother ASAP to keep her company! The pain seriously does just disapear!

It was sweet how as soon as they saw there babies they smiled like it had been easy.
BUT i was still shaking through fear. Which is silly as i've been telling everyone how it would be fine and how i'm sure it can't be that bad and that i was looking forward to it.
Now i'm most definately not.
Arg.

Was good to see the venthose and the forceps as I had no idea what they looked like, they always sounded so violent to me! But actually they are kinda clever!

I might get my OH to watch the program, or is that a bad idea?

Just watching it now and I feel like I wanna slap that woman (Dawn).

I snuck over from second tri and watched it, omg i wanna punch Dawn!!! This is my first child and luckily i've done loads of research on childbirth already but her attitude is disgusting at the begining!

OMG!!!

I've done it before and that has terrified me, I thought water births were supposed to be calming and help with pain relief

They had better get working on a pain free method of giving birth before the 25th March.

I've just downloaded it and watched it (thanks for the link babybee :D )

I didn't think it was that bad! It hasn't made me feel any more worried. I'm still looking forward to having a water birth. I bet I'll end up regretting saying that and will be the one who has the emergency c- section

I was surprised how calm and quiet the second water birth baby was after delivery. I was expecting it to scream.
My midwife did say to me though that babys are often quieter following a water birth as it's a less traumatic way for them to enter the world.

I just watched it now, because i sky+ it, but oh my god i wish i hadnt, this is my first and it looks so so painful, i'm scared now!!!

I dont think theirs anything to do to prepare either.

It scared me just how much pain they were in. I thought i wanted just gas and air but i'm thinking maybe now i'd like not to be there. Lol.

It's also making me question my homebirth idea. I wish there was a birthing centre round where i am!

I'm glad i watched it in the sense of being more realistic about birth but maybe it would have been better not to know!

yeh i'm the same, i'm glad i watched it because it gave me a good idea of what to expect, but still scared me. I'm having mine at the birth centre, with just gas and air and birthing pool. Now i'm not sure thats a good idea

Give me pain relief!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

i know im no where near giving birth lol but i watched it anyway...it has actually made me positive about eventually giving birth. Id love my birth to like either of them...but sods law ill end up with a C section and every available pain relief
Good luck ladies who are about to give birth

Remember some women make a lot of noise at the pushing stage due to the huge effort it takes to push the baby out, not just because of the pain. It takes a lot of muscle power downstairs. Like when you make noises when lifting something really heavy.

Remember those women shown only had gas and air, and they managed ok with that. If they were finding it too much they could have got out of the pool and had a shot of morphine/metpid/pethidine which would have helped a lot.
Also, if they were early enough into labour they could have always asked for an epidural.
